Our kids have a 4 day weekend the first weekend of October and we're considering going somewhere. Any recs for a good long weekend trip? Any ideas of locations that might have relatively cheap airfare? And/or good sites to search cheap airfare by date (location unknown)? Prefer United if possible.

I'm really open to just about anything but it just needs to be realtively easy to get to - one flight and short drive from airport.

We have that same long weekend. It is HISD's fall holiday. We decided to book a trip to Washington DC. It's more of an educational / sightseeing trip, but my family will enjoy it.

We booked about 2 weeks ago and used points for flights and hotel, but the cost seemed pretty reasonable if we would have paid out of pocket. One downside to booking this late is that a lot of the tours were already full. We got a time for a Capital Building tour but are on wait lists for the White House and FBI HQ.

We are flying into Phoenix and hitting Sedona & Grand Canyon. Rolling the dice on Frontier because the tickets were ridiculously cheap (under $100RT PP).

Also, Google flights will let your search various cities for a specific set of dates (click "explore destinations").
