My kids really want to get on the mountain over spring break. Large family so we look for lower priced options when we can (it would cost me upwards of $2000/day in Colorado for my crew)...

Plus, we have relatives in Phoenix. So we are thinking about Arizona Snowbowl in March, and then spend some time with the cousins afterwards.

I looked at their history, and in the past 4 years, three of them it shows they were open in to May... but in one year, they closed in mid March.

Anybody skied there? What can you tell me about March skiing?

Don't ski but do live in Arizona. 2023 was incredibly dry. Roughly 4" of rain in the Phoenix area. Last ski season was record breaking from what I was told by friends. 400" of snow and extremely cold. I know they didn't close until Memorial Day 2023. They have been getting some snow and I think all the lifts are running. Given the low humidity in Arizona they have pretty good snow making facilities/equipment. Supposed to be single digit lows and snowing this weekend at Flagstaff.

Good sightseeing/hiking at Sedona if your family hasn't been there.

I live in the PHX area, and I snowboard and ski up there pretty frequently as it's less than 3 hrs away. Last year was the most snow I've ever seen. I had to cancel day trips twice because the I17 was closed due to snow. Other years it's been pretty poor, so it's highly variable. Last year March skiing was good. I went in April too, but it was ice in the morning and slush in the afternoon.

As of today they haven't received too much snow yet this season. A co-worker told me yesterday that his cousin went up this last weekend and it wasn't that good yet. I think they are forecasted for a little bit of snow this weekend.

12 inch base depth is a boat load of ouch. 17 expected over the next 10. This season is brutal across the entire West.

Price and buy your tickets ahead of time. Snowbowl uses dynamic pricing on day tickets now. last year they hit a record 309 for a ticket on one Saturday.

If the conditions are like they're now you may benefit from waiting on dynamic pricing. If they don't catch a lot and a lot quickly then they won't have much of a draw later in the spring. I can't see to many people jumping at the opportunity to ski a 17 inch base with 36% open so unless conditions improve dramatically, you may want to wait and see. You may be the only person out there if things don't amp up.

True. I don't mean to buy now but I'd think a week out or so minimum if conditions are improving. I just don't want the OP to drive up and buy lift tickets day off and risk getting hosed.

I went ahead and bought them... they are just $35 a day right now and my 12 year old can ski for free, so not a huge investment. Now we pray for snow.

Skiied snowbowl in March 2017 and had a lot of fun. I think it'd be a great option for kids. We did ski school for half the day. We had pizza at Fat Olives in Flagstaff which I remember being very very good. Enjoy!!

They got 15" in the last 24 hrs. Hopefully they'll open more runs this week.
