My wife and I are going August 5-11. This is a much-needed vacation since we had our first child by that point almost a year ago.

We are staying at the Royalton CHIC

My wife and I stayed in that area in 2017 and ventured away from our resort one day for an excursion to the Scape Park Cap Cana. We did the Cap Cana boat ride, Juanillo Beach, and Cenote. All were worth it and I'd rank them in order from good to great in that order. I usually stay away from touristy excursion packages, but this was well done and we really enjoyed that day.

We stayed at Excellence El Carmen (same area as Royalton) and loved the resort and its beach front, but the Juanillo beaches were another level. Like being in a Corona commercial.

I enjoyed the combo zip-lining/monkey enclosure excursions.
