Lots of places are cheap if you get out of the tourist areas/ country capital.

College Station, Texas - can't believe how cheap stuff is there except for game day weekend hotels. I know, it's gotten more expensive but, it's still cheap.

Goa, India - Zuri White Sands Beach Hotel. I think Kingfishers were about $1 hotel price. A week in the hotel including food for 2 people was less than $500. That was about 8 years ago.

Alyeska Resort, Alaska. It's been 15 years but, I basically stole the airfare, 3 hotel nights including lift tickets and ski rental through Costco of all places. It was April so the snow was wet and heavy but it was cheap.

Seems like a wide band of what "cheap" is within this thread. Interesting destinations so far.
probably due to the fact that the topic is cheapest place you have traveled, so it'll be different for everyone. If someone has only traveled to Western Europe, they likely won't have a "cheap" destination on their list but their personal cheapest could be something like Spain.
