Howdy!

We are flying in to Paris and renting a car for drive to Normandy…looks like a couple of routes are suggested.

I'll take any suggestions and tips along the way!

Thx!

I don't have any route suggestions but it's s super easy trip. The hardest part is just getting out of Paris.

We drove from Paris down to Orleans and Tours.
We stayed at Chateau hotel de la Bourdaisiere in
Montlouis-sur-Loire. Very cool place to stay. Then drove
up to Normandy and spent two days there. The toll roads
were very good and worth the tolls. Easy drive except for
getting in and out of Paris.

Watch out for traffic cameras. They'll get you and won't even see them. But agreed with the other posters. Super easy drive.

Normandy is amazing!

Looking forward to the next time I'm in that area.

I found it easier to take a train to Caen from Paris, then rent a car in Caen. I did not enjoy driving in Paris and want no part of it again.

There is a National car rental location in Caen.

We did the same. The train from Paris to Caen was easy and enjoyable, and didn't have to deal with driving in Paris

Take a ten minute detour to Honfleur in route. Thank me later.

Super easy drive from Paris (CDG) to Normandy…about 3.5 hours. Getting out of Paris is pretty congested.

I have a whole new appreciation for James Rudder after visiting Pointe du Hoc and looking over the cliffs he and his men attacked…this is looking south from Pointe du Hoc towards Omaha Beach.

Also, the American Cemetery is unbelievable

I just used Waze.

If you are leaving immediately from CDG, you aren't really "driving in Paris". It's pretty much just like driving in the US; all highways and freeways.

Normandy is a "highlight of the trip" visit. What the Rangers did that day is amazing and seeing it face to face really helps you appreciate it.

The federal government was never meant to be this powerful.
