What is the best time to purchase flights to Europe for a July travel date? Pretty expensive right now.

Great topic. I'm looking at a 5 to 7 ticket purchase from IAH/AUS to Heathrow over July 4th.

Last month Air France had business class round trip to Athens for $2,500 per person. Premium Economy was closer to $2,800.

Do you follow EscapeHouston.com? This guy has been tracking international flight deals out of Houston for years now. I'm sure you can search for your preferred destination through his site and see a pattern of when the best time to buy is. Otherwise highly recommended following his posts… helped us a few times over the years going to Europe for family vacations.

Not sure where all you plan on going in UK, but if heading up north we just booked our son on Singapore Air from IAH-MAN for around $900 roundtrip for a backpacking vacation next summer as his start and end points of his trip. United was around $1,800 for IAH-LHR for the dates we were looking at. About 2 hours and probably 100 British pounds to London from Manchester on a train

We are flying to Athens. I looked at the Escape Houston site and you can subscribe for updates through the Telegram App. Sounds like it will send notifications for all travel deals so it will required culling through the notices.

My son suggested that. While we are focused on London, this is worth considering. Thanks.

Pro tip: sign up for a rewards credit card with a high promotional bonus like the Chase Sapphire Preferred (60k miles). Use those miles to book your trip to Europe and you wont have to worry about cash prices. 60k miles will get you to anywhere in Europe or South America.

The mileage amounts dont really fluctuate that much, you could book a year in advance or the day of, and it'll most likely still be 60k miles to book round trip. I booked a mileage flight to Buenos Aires on the same day of the flight, and it was the same mileage amount as 6 months before.

Which airline was this on? United has moved to dynamic pricing for award redemptions so more expensive the ticket, the more miles required.

Any opinions of Norse Atlantic Airways? They seem to have decent fares. Nothing direct from TX but you can fly to MCO, FLL, or JFK and then Norse to Europe. I like the fact that their fleet is all Dreamliner.
