Seriously considered it; but waiting until '23 when some friend can join us. We will go hiking around Fussen the week before and partake in their festivities as well. Gute riese!

Headed to Munich for a week for work the 21st-28th. Tell me about it, never been but looking forward to checking it out.

So many things to discuss. OK, for starters...How many people in your party? In what part of the city are you staying? Are you flying into Munich or coming from some place else?

Went in 2016 with a group of 10 of us prior to kids. Got reservations (highly recommended) at Schottenhamel and Paulaner. Actually started requesting reservations in January of 2016 i think.

Found an Airbnb about 1/4 mile stumble from the festival grounds right above a curry shop (eww).

11/10 would do it all over again.

If you are trying to go this year and don't have reservations, it seems like its kind of a cluster**** this year. I had a whole trip planned out in 2020, had everything booked in Feb. Then everything changed, obviously. Not gonna make it this year but it is on my bucket list. Here are a couple FB groups I joined that seem to be quite helpful for snagging reservations:

Fussen doesn't have any festivities. Oktoberfest is only in Munich. There is a Volksfest in Stuttgart that overlaps Oktobefest 1 week though.

Presumably, you'd be going by yourself or maybe a colleague or two? I'd go to the Hoffbrauhaus tent. There's a large standing room area where it's easy to meet strangers and mill about without having to try and deal with reservations, which are probably impossible this late anyway.

Get there before 2pm on an weekday and you pretty much never don't need a reservation for any tent you want. By law they have to keep a certain percentage of tables non reservable.

How was everyone's trip? Ours was great as always.
