Trying to sort through the various threads on Cabo. I'm looking to go in the early fall with my wife (only, no kids coming) to one of the nice resorts. We would like a private plunge pool and place to lay out from the room, as well as access to the resort pool/beach.

What are the top places to consider?

Our company paid for us to stay at Nobu in Cabo.

It was awesome but pretty expensive. Extremely clean and the service was really good. It was very quiet and relaxing and definitely didn't have the crazy party vibe. I only left the resort once for a round of golf. The restaurants are pretty solid quality but obviously quite expensive. My understanding is that the resort itself wasn't very close to town.

I'll try to think. I don't know do any with private pools. Le Blanc is the nicest all-inclusive. And I agree Nobu is a gorgeous property. It isn't all-inclusive. Lunch prices at the restaurant we saw didn't look too bad. The rooms and property are just amazing.

One&Only Palmilla was nice when I stayed there a few years ago. Liked the location and the staff did a great job everywhere.

One and only (mentioned) and the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal (formally the resort at Pedregal) are the nicest. I personally like Waldorf because of the super private location (you drive through a tunnel) but in the heart of the city. Both are really nice though.

Not as nice as some mentioned, but pretty nice and has a plunge pool/tub (it's a hot tub, but you don't need to turn on heater) and great patio/views is the Viceroy. It was nice enough for Leonard Fournette last year after he won the Super Bowl (saw him at breakfast).

Esperanza is the nicest I've stayed at in multiple trips to Cabo (but trying Le Blanc in September this year.) it is an Auberge property and non all inclusive, but the room was huge and had a private infinity edge hot tub on the balcony.

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is pretty damn nice and you can get private plunge pools as well. The ambiance of the giants waves in that section of the ocean is hard to beat. Also very close to town.

Have not stayed at Waldorf, but ate at the restaurant (on the cliff) couple of times- overly impressed w the venue, pool, views etc

Staying at le blanc in May, 2nd visit. Probably the nicest place/service I have stayed- def. nicest in Mexico. No "private" pools

Pueblo Bonita Pacifica is very nice as well. It's adult only and has an all inclusive option.

Waldorf Pedregal is always top notch and I'm not just saying that cuz I have my own margarita in their system. Esperanza and Chileno Bay are also very nice but can't walk to town if that matters. Diamante was awful and not just due to their crappy plastic lagoon pool.

Las Ventanas is the nicest IMO.

Chileno is the best overall (service, cost, quality) and my favorite.

Pedregal is great but way over priced since waldorf took over which is sad.

Just booked O&O Palmilla for June and like the old school that everyone else is trying to get away from..

All of these have plunge pools at the right room category.

We are Pedregal regulars and love it.

Second Las Ventanas. They are the resort that everyone else in Cabo has been chasing the last 20 years from a service standpoint. The staff, grounds, and rooms are all world class. It's not cheap, but it's an incredible resort.

Thank you for all the info.

Anyone stayed at Zadun (Ritz)?

I've stayed next door at the JW when it was still being built (loved the JW). I prefer that area versus Cabo San Lucas. Hard to go wrong with a Ritz.

Eyeballing the Ritz too. Why is it that you prefer this area? FYI - this will be our first trip to Cabo.

I did a quick 10 minute tour of Zadun when I was last there...it is very nice and going to be a great addition to Los Cabos area. I didn't get to see any rooms but the views were gorgeous.

I mention out some other favorites...

The Cape, a Thompson hotel
Viceroy Los Cabos - very quiet, sleek and modern but amazing food and views
Four Season Los Cabos at Costa Palmas- their oceanfront rooms with the plunge pools are stunning!

The Hilton has private plunge pools. Really nice property overall, with two large pools, swim up bars, lounge pools, tiki bar on the beach with fire pits/couches, etc.
Also, arguably the best beach in cabo due to their man made cove.

I will agree with the Hilton Los Cabos --- It was one of my favorite properties we visited last year. It actually really surprised me at how nice it was, views for days, beautiful beach area and the restaurants were soo good.

not sure if it was timing or what, but when we went in july 2021, it seemed almost empty. Almost TOO empty. We often had the entire east pool to ourselves. Not sure if it was covid, or how empty it was, but the swim up bars closed like at 5pm, which was kind of a bummer.

Empty pool with my kids, early evening. Man made cove in the background, best spot in cabo IMO.

Is the water/waves too rough to swim in Cabo? I've heard that from several people. We like to swim/snorkel a lot.

Yes, the majority of beaches are not swimmable in the Los Cabos area. The currents and waves are just too strong.
There are a couple of public beach areas that allow swimming like Medano Beach and a handful of resorts that have man made cove like beaches that you can swim in the ocean.

That's the case in most locations in Cabo. We had to sign a liability release stating the resort wasn't responsible for anything that happened if we got in the water.

There are plenty of snorkel tours that bring you just off the coast and it's fine. But you can't really do it from the shore.

I may be in the minority, but, to me, this is a positive. I'm past the point of just downing "free" drinks all day. I'd rather have a good meal and a bottle of wine and pay for it or not feel obligated to stay at the resort and venture out.

We are on our way back from Secrets Puerto Los Cabos. In the same community entrance as JW and the Ritz. Quick drive into San Jose Los Cabos.

No, it's not Waldorf or Las Ventanas. Mixed up a couple nice dinners at Arbol ($600) and Flora Farms. The grounds were very well maintained and staff were happy and great.

Yes, the food was not 5-star but everything else was just fine.
