We decided to book a quick and classy trip to Galveston Island right before the kid starts school again.

Who can provide some fun things to do? We rented an Airbnb on the north side of the island.

-best beaches?
-best beach to drive out on?
-activities a 6 year old boy would like?

Second, put in just a tiny tiny bit of work on this. There are a hundred threads on this.
Third, the Childrens Museum is pretty cool and in the ac.
Fourth, they just passed a bunch of new regs on golf carts, so check them out if you are bringing one or renting.
Five, the further west you go, the easier it is on the beach. Lugging stuff up and down the seawall is a pain.

Like Fish Village by the ferry landing? Or are you referring to the bay side of the west end?

Ok. Marios has always been a good choice for dinner.
For a break, take the kid on the ferry. Always dolphins in the channel.
Dolphin tours over off Harborside can be fun for kids.
Galveston Party Boats used to do a 4 hour trip for $25 and they provide everything. Maybe look them up.
Keep your wits about you when on foot. There are some rough pockets that are randomly scattered throughout the main part of the island. Obviously not on seawall or the Strand, but walking the other streets, keep your eyes open or just drive to the fun areas.

Your rental is located on what is typically called the East End or East Beach. That's why people were confused by your use of the term "north side."

Kid would like schlitterbahn.

Does your kid like ships? You can watch them coming and going at apfel Park.

Get to the beaches on the west end early to set up a little bit away from people instead of nuts to butts. If you go to San Luis pass, be extremely wary of wading. Stay away from the pass. Very dangerous.

Black pearl is good. Happy hour at saltwater is good. Mosquito Cafe is good. Stay away from laundry concepts. Complete waste of money.

Hot muffuletta at Sonnys Place!! Call in Advance to make sure they are open.

I like Benno's Cajun style restaurant and when you are ready for a break from seafood Olympia Grill has good Greek food.

Benno's and The Spot are always must stops for us, but we don't have small kids.

The kids would probably like Seawolf Park and the pleasure pier.

Railroad Museum.

Restaurants: fisherman's wharf, fish tales, and Benno's

The pretzel and beer cheese at stuttgarten on the stand is awesome

Kid Activities: moody gardens and schlitterbahn (they're right next to each other on the west side of the island)

fishermans wharf and fish tales are generic landrys concepts. completely overpriced garbage.

Spot is my first stop on what used to be weekly trips to the Island. If you want to venture a little higher end then Rudy & Pacos always did me right (its been a few years). Black Pearl was usually my go to for oysters, Saltwater for gumbo.

Black Pearl can acommmodate an 11 person party. Should probably reserve though.
Also +1 on Trattoria La Vigna.
