Cousin is still planning on it but I think you should play it by ear. Let's see when it finally stops snowing. Might want to plan on staying the night in Denver for now. Keep an eye on CoTrip website.


That's the plan. We don't take off for Denver until 11 am central. So hopefully I will know something by then.

Not sure the auto sock would work very well in these conditions. If it calls for it, need to have traditional chains.

Tend to agree......cannot vouch for them, ......have never used them......was just supplying a visual to help educate those not aware of the product.

It does meet the standard for the law, however.

I think auto sock is the only non chain traction device that is Cdot approved. I think the cops have also been pretty lenient on giving tickets but gotta think that will eventually change.

I never heard of them until they showed up on an episode of the Canadian Tow Truck driver show "Highway Thru Hell".

I can't find the episode but, I remember the wrecker driver telling the guy who was stuck that the autosock might work down in Colorado but up here in British Columbia, they don't use those because they don't work.

So, getting into the technical snow details, Colorado has the famous Champagne Powder while BC and South Central Alaska have a very heavy wet snow.

Love the play by play from afar. Winter storms in areas that can handle them are fun.

Roads look pretty good on COTrip. CDOT knows their stuff.

Winter storms in TX with power outages and people's homes being ruined = not fun.

Texas also had to deal with nasty ice. This snow fell with our temp in the 33-34F range.

Drove from St Mary's to Lone Tree this morning. I70 and c470 were ok but still came across three accidents, one was a flipped over car. Also came across a camaro at Idaho springs that was needing some pushing. 2wd in this environment is foolish but some people learn the hard way.

Just drove from Lone Tree to Crested Butte in 3 hrs, 45 minutes. It's usually 4 hours or a little more.

The roads were 80% great, 10% kinda sketchy, and 10% pretty wet. There was very little traffic.
