We visit Houston a lot. We always stay Near the medical center and frequent Stros games, the zoo, museums and enjoy the great food and friendly folks. There is much to do in that one area. It has pretty much everything Austin does not. The kids have always loved it, from birth to 16 years of age. We've slipped in visits to NASA, Kemah and Galveston on Houston trips. Since we live in Austin, Houston is the city we visit the most in Texas.

And I brag about it on social media. (Mostly because we only post on a private family group and most of my family lives in Houston.)

No, I was enjoying the lists! It's just devolved into a marketing campaign for Houston including the disclaimer " I'd never suggest it's the best city." I love the city of Houston, but it seems we've lost the plot of the thread.

Oh I get it, we are all just supposed to post one city with no discussion, we are just supposed to give the OP what he asked for, got it.

In that case, New Orleans!

Sorry for derailing.

I lived in Colorado Springs for 3 years and loved my time there. Don't know why I didn't initially include it in my post but I'm hoping to get back there in 1.5 years

Most of mine have been said to death (NOLA, Nashville, Boston, Key West, Denver, Minn-StP) but I'll add in a couple smaller gems in Savannah and St. Augustine.

2. Las Vegas. Cause I like to party and gamble. Lived there too
3. Seattle. Spent over a hundred nights there. Other than the crazy commies the place is awesome.

Why??
Besides being a bit dirty and some areas not for the faint of heart it is one of my top US cities no question.
Curious as why it is something you don't like

Ehhh, it's not that I don't like it, I do. I probably worded that poorly. But it's definitely not a top US city for me. How dirty it is alone keeps it out, IMO. You want to be the top destinstion in the us, clean up a little bit and maybe not have a crack head trying to sell me drugs on every street corner. The food is great, though I do think it lacks the diversity of other cities. The night life and social scenes are great, but that doesn't really weigh heavily for me. The weather sucks....

To be fair, I'd like for my wife and I to go and give it another shot. A more off bourbon street shot. But there's just a lot of cities on my list I'd rather experience for the first time or return to over NO.....

I know a lot of people like New Orleans, but I'm not a fan. It was mid-80s and humid when I was there in late December a few years ago. It was dirty, and just not nice.

Nola is 1-2 for me for 6-8 months of the year. It's no dirtier than Portland, Seattle or New York but yes if you stay on Bourbon or even in the quarter for most of the time you are doing it wrong. Head to uptown and then see if you still think of it as dirty.
