The Blue Moose for breakfast every morning before the slopes is a must.

Not sure if it's still there, but The Whale's Tale has a great happy hour with some killer wings.

Breckenridge Brewery is pretty good and can be recommended

Other personal favorites are:

Ollies Pub and grill - Good hearty (after ski) food and drink. Fun vibe when its packed with college students in early January

Fattys Pizzeria- Good Pizza, not outrageously priced

Fiesta Jilasico-"Meh" on the actual Mexican food (although probably about as good as youll find in Breck) but they do afternoon marg specials where you get giant ass margaritas for cheapy cheapy. And it is easily within walking distance of the slopes.

If you don't mind driving just a few minutes (like 15), there is also quite a lot of good options in Frisco!

EDIT: DONT FORGET THE CREPE CART!!! Its right on Main street!

All good suggestions so far. Some of our favs over the years:
Fattys for pizza.
Empire Burger for burgers
Briar Rose for steak
Relish for a nice dinner
Angels Hollow for a hole in the wall. Some of my most memorable nights in Breck have come from this place. They have outstanding comfort food and if the mood is right the place turns into a party later. Margaritas are the strongest I have ever had.

Empire Burger is pretty good, kind of small place but good food at a reasonable price.

On a whim, I hit up the Lost Cajun. Was pleasantly surprised.

Also tried Giampietro for pizza. Sicilan style was good.

I was gonna say lost Cajun. Being from Louisiana, there food was spot on.

Wife and I also like Kenosha steakhouse.

Apres has a great beer selection, but no food.

This.

The Blue Moose has some awesome breakfast. Cash only though if I remember correctly.

That's in Frisco Right?

I have seen it a number of times and always thought it seemed a curious place for a Cajun restaurant. Honestly, never considered eating there as I really didn't have high expectations for Cajun food in Summit County Colorado.

After what you have said, I may just have to try it the next time I am up there.

Eric'a pizza is very good, but also try their twice baked buffalo wings. They may be the best wings I've ever had.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Which of these restaurants are accessible for lunch while skiing? Any of them a real short walk or just off the slopes?

Depends on which peak you are skiing at. Peak 9 will give you the closest access to restaurants actually in town. Even that will be a decent walk however. Peaks 6 and 10 have nothing while 7 and 8 are only resort restaurants. 9 is technically resort only as well but is closer to town per se as previously mentioned.

+1 to Empire Burger and Giampietro. Breckenridge Brewery used to be really good but has dropped off in the last year or two. Never been to Eric's but don't think I am missing much, certainly more of a tourist sport. Blue Moose has great breakfast. Mi Casa sucks for Mexican compared to anything in Texas.

Go to the little French bakery off main street for breakfast. I usually grab an omelette, coffee and some fresh bread to go.

Sounds like nothing impressive for lunch. Are the resort restaurants any good, or do a lot of people make the walk back into town during lunch?

Resort places are ok, mostly cafeteria type quality. Expect them to be busy and overpriced. I usually just carry a PBJ sandwich and some snacks with me for the day then hit a restaurant in town after getting off the mountain around 4.

Can't help much on lunch either... I usually take lunch in the condo and get back out there as quickly as possible.

This. We usually head to the grocery store and buy lunchables and fruit to carry in the camelback and eat up on the mountain. Nice thing is that it's not uncommon so it's not looked down on if walk into one of the restaurants and sit at a table to eat your own lunch. If it's nice out and not too cold post up on a picnic table somewhere and enjoy your lunch.

Then we usually finish up around 4 or 5 and hit up happy hour somewhere and get light food. Then it's back to the condo to relax and have a somewhat later dinner out on the town at 8 or so.

Lunch is one aspect of the trip that you can really pinch some pennies and save quite a bit. Come to think of it I don't think I've come off the mountain for a lunch break.

I own a condo in Breck. My place is at the south end of Main St (Main & Park Ave), so I'm most familiar with places on the south side. A lot of my recommendations have been discussed already; Breck has an abundance of places that I'd rate 4 or 4.5 stars.

-Breakfast: (1) Columbine Cafe is my favorite; usually get huevos rancheros or burrito & then eat some of my kids' pancakes or french toast. I've enjoyed everything I've tried. (2) Daylight Donuts: I really like this place; nice assortment of donuts & amazing/huge bearclaw (very different, like strawberry flavored); their hot breakfasts are really good too. It's cash only & gets really crowded around 7:45 or 8:00 usually. (3) Cool River Cafe is a 1-minute walk from my place, so we eat here a bunch: love their egg/bagel sandwiches, very good pastries, and have a nice assortment of coffee, lattes, and hot chocolate. 4) Park & Main: only been twice for breakfast, but it was good (think I had burrito both times); (5) Blue Moose: I've never been but always hear good things.

-Burgers: (1) Empire Burger is my favorite; great burgers, some tasty sauces for fries (barbecue ranch & jalapeno ranch are my favorites), cheesesteak, milkshakes... it's all good. (2) Ollie's: great burger in a dirty/loud/fun pub. (3) Stella's Hungry Horse: shack on North side of town; very good burgers & good hot dogs and sandwiches.

-Italian/Pizza: I love Giampetros, as well as Michael's. Both have really good pizza & I give edge to G's. Entrees are really good at both. Michael's is much bigger. Fatty's is good too & a good place to hang at night.

-Mexican: Mi Casa is the best in Breck (in my building too). Good place for happy hour & food is pretty solid (I grew up in the Valley & am picky about Mexican... I think Mi Casa is pretty good). I believe Oscar's is the other place I like. Good tacos, great beer, whiskey, and tequila selection (they sometimes have Pappy but crazy prices).

Cajun: Lost Cajun. I'm not a huge Cajun fan, but it's probably the best I've had outside TX/LA. Very good and popular.

-Sandwiches, etc: (1) Park & Main for snadwiches; (2) Crepe Stand on Main Street; (3) highly-rated Czech place near Empire Burger but never been.

Steak: Hearthstone is the only steak/fancy place I've been in Breck. Very good.

BBQ: Moe's- decent if you're craving BBQ.

Breweries: Broken Compass is about 5 minutes from Main Street; some great beers. Coconut Porter, brown, and their seasonals are impressive. Breckenridge is pretty good, and so is their food. CB & Potts opened a few months ago; pretty good beer & bar food. Apres has a good beer selection, as does Kenosha (Kenosha's food is pretty good).

WILD CARD: There's a food hut 30 yards from my place. If you go 30 yards right on Park Ave from Main (at south end of Breck), you'll see it. He opens late usually (between 5-8 pm depending on time of year); his name is Blake (aka Red). One of the best gyros I've had (Rusty style if you want spicy; he adds sriracha & jalapenos), and really good pork street tacos and a couple other things.

Coffee shops & sweets: Cabin Coffee Company is great & a good place to hang out. Kava Cafe has great coffee drinks, as well as amazing mini donuts (taste like funnel ckaes... I've heard their burritos are good. Mountain Mary's Cookies is in our rotation every time we go to Breck. Clint's has great ice cream (from Lik's in Denver) and other desserts.
