1) National WWI Museum. Everything else is tied for #2 or lower.

Never been to Ft. Levenworth, but it's suppsed to have some cool stuff
Battle of Westport sites scattered throughout town (Civil War)

Atchison, Kansas, is a pretty town, Amelia Earhart childhood home, neat old houses, museums

Gorge on bbq

Oklahoma Joe's has the best BBQ in KC. Jack Stack is great as well. Gates is generic so avoid and I'm not crazy about Arthur Bryants.

Go to the Cigar Box for karaoke with Al Lotta. Seriously one of my favorite nights I've ever had

Catch a ballgame at Kauffman

Agreed about Gates - reminds me of Pappas BBQ or Spring Creek - never knew what the big fuss was.
Jack Stack is fantastic - get the burnt ends appetizer!
See the American League Champion KC Royals at Kaufmann Stadium.

I prefer Jackstack over Oklahoma Joes but both are good. Also if going by yourself I prefer the downtown location and sit at the bar over country club plaza but both are good.

Did not see how old you were but for drinking the country club plaza area is more my style but I am over forty.

schillterbahn is there out by the NASCAR track.

Kaufman for a baseball game is a must do.

For weekends if you don't mind taking some short trips you can run over and see a game at Busch too. Or you can run on over to Hays and see where I played baseball one summer for the Larks.

I'll echo what's been said about Jack Stack, Oklahoma Joes and Gates.

Jack Stack is Phenomenal. Oklahoma Joes is good. Gates was very disappointing.

Go to a Kansas City baseball game - nice venue.

If you like retro, old prohibition type bars - go the Savoy Bar in the Savoy Hotel. Has great steaks and food! Truman booth is there.

Parents used to live there. Didn't do much of these things due to Mom's health, but we did go to the Steamship Arabia museum. It was fascinating.
