Thinking of taking a trip without kids to Niagara Falls. Anyone been and have any tips to share? We've decided to stay in Canada.... But what airport do you fly in to?

I flew into YYZ (Toronto), drove to Niagara Falls and saw it from the Canada side. It's pretty impressive!

We flew into Buffalo and drove up and stayed in the Embassy Suites on the Canadian side. We bought some kind of tourist pass that let us use the bus and provided discounts/admission to a bunch of the common sites. We also took a day trip over to the Six Flags park at Darien Lakes, NY since season passes are valid at all parks.

We didn't really do anything off the beaten path, just the basic stuff that pretty much everyone does.

Advice: stay on the Candian side. The two Marriotts in Falls View are nice hotels. You can walk to all restaurants / bars, etc as well as the Canadian visitor center at the Falls.

Compare the flights to buffalo and toronto, buffalo should be much cheaper, also try the ice wines in the country. I thought the american and canadian side of the falls were bother very nice for different reasons

Not sure if it's feasible for you but if you're family is fit, I'd plan on being there 4-5 hours and hiking the park and viewing it from all the viewing spots. Also do the Maid of the Mist boat. Awesome experience!

Fireworks on Wednesday and Sunday nights (double check nights and times) over the illuminated falls are pretty special.

Great wines at Niagra - on - the -lake. On the Canadian side.
Do the cave of the winds! Hokey but hiking down rickety stairs to the base of the falls , you really feel the power!

We flew into Buffalo and stated at the Marriott overlooking the falls. We also went to Niagara on the Lake and toured the wineries. Loved the ice wines and Canadian reds. We did a jet boat tour as well that was a blast. Look into that if it will be warm and you are into that sort of thing.

Stay on the Canadian side. The US side (Buffalo) is very boring even if you go to downtown Buffalo.

Get a sturdy barrel. And make a name for yourself.

Wife and I got married in Toronto, but spent our first night married at Niagra-On-the-Lake. It's beautiful. The Canadian falls are more impressive than the American Falls, so plan accordingly.
