Looking to make some reservations. What are the must eat places that we need to plan ahead for?

We go in a month. Planning on a week in Tokyo, few days in Kyoto and another couple of side trips.

Go eat breakfast at Sushi Dai in the Tsukiji fish market. Gotta get there around 5am to get in line.

It was absolutely amazing.

+1 for Sushi Dai.

I had dinner at Gonpachi in Roppongi. It may look familiar if you've ever seen the movie Kill Bill. Be prepared to have your mind blown while walking down the street in Roppongi when tons of nigerians pop out speaking fluent Japanese.

We ate at a couple of sushi places in and around the fish market and they were all good.

Shun Sushi Kobushi was the best sushi I have ever had, though. It's in the Ginza area and very expensive, but totally omakase and unbelievably good. The chef worked in Chicago for a while and speaks some Engrish.

Done with Kyoto and headed to Tokyo today.

Loving that I can eat all the unidentifiable fish/bean things and not spend the entire bullet train ride in the ****ter.

Raining something awful today and I need a golf umbrella to get down the street. Don't have the patience to pull up weather, but I would estimate 30 MPH gusts here in Yokosuka. Brrr.....

Was in Tokyo last week. One of my favorite places for sushi was Uobei. It is a short walk from Shibuya station. Went twice and tried just about everything on the menu.

You should try a COCO ichibanya for some Japanese style curry. Its inexpensive and pretty tasty.
