Headed to Antigua on 3/16 for a week for our honey moon, it was a gift from my parents. Staying at the Sandals resort, so curious to what is recommended we do while there?

We did our honeymoon at CoCo Bay resort there on the island.

Wadadli Cats Circumnavigation tour is a must. You're missing out on so much if you don't see the entire island. Day of sailing around the entire island with a beautiful snorkel stop. Lunch and alcohol included.

Day in St Johns walking around and shopping. We had lunch there downtown. Nice to get out and see some of the capitol.

There's a zip line place that was ok but not too long. Only took half an hour or so. Not really worth it.

There's also an awesome secluded little beach and restaurant just south of CoCo Bay called Ffryes Beach. We spent a day there at the beach and had lunch at the little restaurant/grill there called Dennis'. They have beach chairs there for customers. We were within walking distance, but catch a cab, stop and pick up some beer and you're set for the day.

It's not really a big place so there aren't a bunch of excursions and tours to take. Lot of relaxing, Wadadli beer, and rum punch. Feel free to PM for more

agree with Ag_07 - Wadadli Cat is a must. We loved our day cruise. Their whole list is pretty great

I'm a bit of a history buff, so I really liked my day in English Harbour/Nelson's Dockyard area.

My favorite restaurant at Sandals was Kimono's, but I pretty much always enjoy some good hibachi. The beach at Sandal's is public, just like every other one of the 365 beaches in Antigua. Once you step outside the gates, be prepared for the locals attempts at selling you their wares.

Enjoy your trip!

Another vote for the Wadadli Cats. Had an amazing time on that trip. We stayed at the Sandals as well and loved it. Resort grounds were great, good beach and water, fun atmosphere, food was the best of any of the Sandals we've been to. Be sure to get the jerk pork from the beachside restaurant for lunch. I think I had that every day we were there.

Another vote for wadadli cat tour. Awesome experience! We also did a off-road trip across the island on souped up Polaris side by sides that was a lot of fun. It was on the right just before coco bay resort (where the double decker bus is). We went In the off season in late Aug so there was really no food/drink stands open. The resort food got real boring after awhile at coco bay. Should've spent more time in some of the smaller towns around the island.

Here was the trip. Was not quite as action packed as this write up, but fun nonetheless.... Lol at he carribean lunch, we stopped at a hamburger stand and got burgers and chicken strips but the stand did have alcoholic milk shakes!

That's weird. We stopped at a secluded island and had jerk pork roasted pumpkin and rice.

The link was the buggy tour, not wadadli cat. For the waddle cat tour we had jerk chicken and fried tilapia plenty of rum punch though

For those who stayed at Sandals Antigua...which room type did you stay in? And did you like? Also if you didn't have a butler did you find it hard to get a seat at beach/pool if you didn't go first thing in morning to reserve? Thanks!

On the off-road tour.....you do get to drive your own right? Not just ride along?

Yes we drove our own. Our guide in front, I drove one with my wife, and another couple followed us. Was a good way to see the isIand. Buzzed around several towns on the road, and then cut across the island on a dirt road through a park. Just be careful, the Antiguan drivers are terrible

Anyone ever stayed non-AI there? The tales of wandering to nearby villages / bars / restaurants sounded intriguing.

From what I can recall, besides St Johns, there aren't really a lot of options as far as bars and restaurants. The ones that are there are very isolated, off the beaten path, and spread out. It's not like there are business hubs where there are a group of places to go and you can bar hop. More like places you can stop for a bite and beer on your way to visit somewhere else.

We bought this book and took it with us. You'll find some good suggestions on places to stop and things to do.

A lot of the stuff we wanted to do only take place on certain days that didn't work with our schedule. We really wanted to make it to the Shirley Heights BBQ.
