Anyone have a hotel recommendation for Singapore? I don't need anything fancy...just a bed, shower, and a/c will do. I'll be there for a couple of days on the tail end of a trip through SE Asia and would like to find something near Chinatown if possible. I know SP is an expensive city, but I'm hoping to find something somewhat "budget hotel".

This won't be too helpful but:

When I was walking around the Little India area there were a couple of hostel looking places with younger looking backpackers.

Must do Marina Bay Sands for at least 1 night so you can use the pool.
Seriously, it's a once in a lifetime experience. I've done it twice

Try the Dorsett or the Amara...can sometimes get some good rates at them, and close to Chinatown

While not in Chinatown proper, why not take a look at Nostalgia Hotel in the Tiong Bahru area. I've never stayed the night here but I have finished many a good night in the area in their bar and cold pints of San Miguel.

I think the rooms may be a bit small due to the age of the building but the area around is really growing in terms of stuff to do. Boutique shops, places to grab a bite to eat and so on.
