We are considering a road trip there next Dec 26-Jan 2ish. We are traveling with family and kids, so we aren't looking for the best skiing in the world; mostly interested in easily skiable green and blue terrain, ski school, etc.
1) How likely are we to see good snow at that time? Would Taos be better? Is it worth the extra mileage to go into southern Colorado somewhere, maybe Durango? We are driving from San Antonio.
2) Any specific suggestions on lodging? I'll take a look soon at VRBO and Great Rentals, but curious if there's any personal experience. We aren't opposed to a hotel but likely prefer a house/condo. Are the plenty of ski in/ski out places?
3) Are there ample other activities like snowmobiling, snow tubing, ice skating, restaurants, etc.? Been a long time since I've been there.
4) Any known opportunities for discount lift tickets?
Thsnks!
