Any Dubai experts on here that know how best to spend time in Dubai?

May have an 8 hour layover in Dubai, flying Emirates, that I'd like to take advantage.

Purchase tickets in advance for the Burj Khalifa.

Take a taxi to the Gold Souk. Then take a dhow (super cheap) across the river and you can catch a taxi from one of the hotels on the other side to the Burj Dubai and Burj Khalifa for a quick look before heading back.

What time does your flight arrive/leave? I am guessing it is all at night?

Flight lands around noon their time, and connection leaves around 9PM.

I'm not sure a water park is the best way to go with a 8 hour layover.

Go to the Burj Khalifa, have to get tickets in advance, and then walk around the Dubai Mall a bit. They are there together. I wasn't a big fan of the souks, so I would probably skip those. I thought the ones in Turkey were cooler. So, I would then go to Pierchic Restaurant for an early dinner and hopefully a sunset. The place has amazing views of Burj Al Arab, especially at night or sunset. It is on a pier over the water and would allow you to walk a little on the beach.

I actually dunno. A water park sounds like it would be the perfect thing for a layover. I have never thought about that but it sounds like it would really wake me up and keep me going.

And, you know, do the Burj Khalifa thing.
