Friday lunch at Galatois is a blast. Have to go downstairs and watch the business guys entertaining their secretaries.

Breakfast at Brennan's is quite an experience, but be prepared to shell out ~$150 or so with mimosas and bloody mary's (which you'll need if you did it up right the night before).

Go to Susan Spicer's place, Bayona. One of the best meals I have ever had.

What is your price range? Are you willing to venture outside of the quarter/downtown area? I've lived in NOLA for almost three years and my favorites are:

Clancy's - quintessential local uptown spot. Must have the fried oysters with brie. I had the smoked pork loin a few days ago and it was amazing. The veal with crabmeat and bearnaise is a good go to dish.

Boucherie - new small place in the uptown area. Unbeatable prices for the quality of food. Haven't seen the January menu yet but two of my favorites that are always available are the brisket and ribs.

Bayona - one of the culinary gems of the quarter. Never had an average dish here.

Couchon - down in the warehouse district, this was one of my favorites for a while but I feel like its been a little lacking lately. Boucherie has better prices with a similar menu but Couchon is damn good and has the best fried boudin in the world. The small plates here are the way to go. Maybe get a few of those and split an entree.

August - in the CBD/warehouse district area, its excellent in every way.

There's also a great place to eat breakfast across the street from Cafe Du Monde...can't remember the name though....just on the corner along the crosswalk.

Just got back from NOLA over NYE... here is what we did...

Dinner NYE... Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House. Food was OK, nothing to write home about. Good bourbon list, but they were out of at least 3 options.

Lunch New Years Day: Mandina's on Canal. Excellent local lunch place. Good comfort food.

Dinner New Years Day: Emeril's. Solid, not spectacular.

Lunch 1/2: Hot dog at Superdome during game.

Dinner 1/2: Restaurant August. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Great food, spectacular service. Only thing I didn't like was a custard based egg appetizer (compliments if the chef.) I had the heirloom beet salad, the trout, and Creme Au Chocolat. All were EXCELLENT. Very nice wine list and excellent bourbon list (they were not out of any...)

Dad had the White Shrimp Bisque, Filet, and Goat Cheese Cheesecake (only cheesecake pictured{

Mom had the Organic Greens Salad, Texas Elk, and Butterscotch Pots de Creme.

Girlfriend had the same salad, the Andouille Crusted Trout (sorry for the post bite pic) and Chocolate Cherry Cordial "Beniegts."

I whole heartedly recommend this restaurant for a great dining experience. GO GO GO!

Also, generally the best regarded fried chicken in the city is at Willie Mae's Scotch House...
