How long do you want to ignore this user?
My grandparents are going to Rome in May and are looking for a hotel suggestion near the central part of Rome.

Can anyone help me out. Thanks.

I have stayed at both the Hotel Nardizzi and Hotel Oceania in Rome. Both are in the same building on Via Firenze across the street from the Ministry of Defense. I enjoyed my stay at both places, with the slight edge going to Hotel Oceania.

The hotels are central. You can walk to all the major sights. Also, they are within walking distance to the train station, but not in the shady areas directly around Termini. The street is very safe and quiet, and there are a few little cafes and restaurants a stones throw away.

I highly recommend the Best Pantheon hotel/B&B in Rome. I realize it's a terrible name, but the accommodations are fantastic. My wife and I stay here every year when we go back to Italy.

It only has 6 rooms, but it's a great place to stay. The rooms are extremely clean and the hotel is as well. They bring a menu to your room each night to fill out what you want for breakfast. If you want everything on the menu, they'll bring it--it's included in the price.

Find the link included below. We've never stayed at their hotel near the Vatican because we like this one so much.

We stayed at the Hotel Splendide Royal in Rome a few years ago...it was beautiful! Would go back in a heartbeat. Had a champagne breakfast every morning on one of the top floors overlooking Rome. Was also a great location (centrally located) for seeing the sites. We walked just about everywhere for nine days...only took a cab once.

I highly recommend the Intercontinental. It is located at the top of the Spanish Steps and is a lovely hotel. We stayed there 4 days last April and was very impressed.
