The Mrs. is embarking on a 3 yr PhD program at A&M which will require numerous Friday night hotel stays. I know there are plenty of rooms in B/CS, so I am just looking for recommendations of decent places without breaking the bank and places which she should definitely stay away from.

You're pretty much hosed, if any of those nights are during football season. There will be a two night minimum, and doubled prices.

Try a bed and breakfast. There is one in town that is new and great. It's called The Nest Bed, Breakfast and Spa. Give them a call 693-5562. We've stayed there; the breakfasts are the best, quiet and inexpensive

We like to stay at the Fairfield Inn. Usually around $100 per night.

Is this a deal where she will know which Fridays she will need well in advance? If so, I've known of some folks who were able to get discounts for booking a bunch of nights to come in and see baseball. If she's going to be staying like a dozen nights and knows those in advance, go to some of the mid-range places (HI, Fairfield Inn, the older Hampton) and see if they will cut a deal.

Thanks for the info. I have found a discounted rate at the Fairfield which is good through early September. Fridays on football weekends do seem to be a pain.

Send her with a tent.

We just got back and stayed at the new Holiday on Southwest Parkway and Hwy 6. Very nice hotel. And the manager was very accomodating to us when we had a special request. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again.

The LaQuinta is older but decent and near campus. I wonder how much the rooms are in the MSC.

not to mention that I don't think the MSC Hotel is included in the renovation... as in, it won't exist once the MSC is done. I don't know this for sure, just what I've heard.

+1 for priceline. I've never paid more than $65 for a room in CS using priceline...

The new Hyatt Place and Residence Inn are both nice.

The Econolodge advertised $64 a night rooms this week. The relatively new Quality Inn on the extreme south side of CS (near Rock Prairie Road) advertised "Best Rates in Town" outside their hotel this week.
