I'm looking to book a weekend in San Antonio just to get away. Anyone know of a nice hotel across the street from the Riverwalk? I've looked at the ones on the riverwalk but curious about whats across the street that would cost less.

Any suggestions?

Stayed at the Drury Inn on the River walk and it rocked. It's the one in the old San Antonio Bank and is attached to the new part of the river walk. Huge tubs, and totally accessible to every part of Downtown. Definitely worth it.

highly recommend the Hotel Contessa, although it is still on the riverwalk. You won't be sorry.

I always priceline/name-your-own-price four star riverwalk hotels. My last two have been the hyatt regency (I think i bid around 90), and a few months ago I got La Maison de Rio for 102/night).

I think they allow you a couple of bids, then lock you out for three days. It helps if you have two emails and two credit cards so you can double your attempts.

I second the Best Western Sunset Station. We stayed there for the A&M/Army game a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Also, La Mansion is really great too.

I've stayed at the New Drury (Old Alamo Bank Building) for the past couple of years and will be staying there again this summer. Nice property with a good location. It sits a little ways down on a new portion of the riverwalk. Nice pool.

You sound like you don't want to spend a ton. So... Drury Plaza.

We've stayed at the Emily Morgan many times and I don't remember it buying muy expensive. I love looking out over the Alamo...

Hotel Contessa is pretty great- but if you want cheaper the new Hyatt is nice, stayed there New Years got it on Orbitz for $118/night
