2 away from 600. How do you Rangers fans feel about Sosa doing it in a Rangers uniform? I'm not gonna lie, im surprised with what he's done this season.

I'm glad for the Rangers and I'm glad for Sammy that he could resurrect his career with the team in which it started.

Did Sosa screw up? Yeah, probably so. But so did A LOT of other players, probably more than any of us will ever want to admit. I respect Sammy because he came to the Rangers as humble as a rookie, wanting to work his hardest to make the team. Because of that, because he didn't act like baseball owed him anything, I think he deserves a second chance. Plus, he's a likeable guy.

"Que? No habla de english. Biesball has been verde, verde goo to me."

Don't really care. So he hits his first and his 600th in a Ranger uniform (at least we know he was clean for these), its the other 590+ homers that mean anything to his career and reputation. History will always show Sammy in a Cub uniform from the '98 season, so it doesn't really matter.

If it helps the Rangers, I am all for Sammy being in Arlington. Plus, hes not a jerk for the most part.

Whatever raises his trade value more is fine by me.

He's done a lot to change his reputation as selfish player. Honestly, I'm glad he's back to doing well. That being said, I don't think I'd like him to go back to Chicago.

i have been fairly indifferent on Sosa's signing - at least from an off-the-field/embarrassment factor. so the 600 HR chase in a Ranger uniform doesn't really bother or excite me. i was just hoping he would produce, which he has. and like mhayden, now I'm hoping they can parlay his solid start into some younger, longer-term talent.

I'd feel alot better about it if the team was winning....and the fact that all of what, 13 of the 600 will have been hit as a Ranger????

That being said, what really impressed me was when he got the first one this year and all he wanted to talk about was how well the pitching staff did in getting a win...

I don't really care....he's actually helping the team, its to bad the rest of the Rangers suck to bad or we might be .500 right now.

Come on bluestained....he did the same thing in the late 90s/early 00s. He was a selfish player early in his career then went on this 5-6 year PR campaign to win over everyone then showed his true colors enroute to the Cubs trading him for nothing.

Sosa is a complete bas of trash and he is the epitome of what went wrong in the 90s. He has cheated in multiple ways to achieve greater success. Steroids and a corked bat, who knows what else. I am happy to see him do well without the use of such things, but I question whether or not he still uses them, I always will. He claimed the corked bat was "to put on a better show for the fans", well he made a great show for Chicago fans by getting the hell out of town and staying gone. His HR Derby run with multiple 500+ foot HRs is pretty clearly due to the use of the juice and a corked bat. He is a piece of trash with no regard for the rules, decency, and general class. He even played the "no hablo ingles" card in front of the Congressional hearing. While I understand that English is a second language to him, and his English is not great, it's been a lot better in many many interviews than it was in front of Congress.

He is among the lowest form of human trash, and my opinion of him has nothing to do with the cubs or rangers, it has everything to do with his repeated behavior, repeated cheating, and years of BS for personal satisfaction.

Doesn't matter if he will do it in a Rangers uni of not because he will be gone by the trade deadline and yall will get some descent prospects off of a guy you paid nothing for. Along with the guys that you will be getting for Tex, yalls future looks bright

Wow kb2001, don't hurt yourself when you decide to get down off that high horse...

If you want to feel that way, kb2001, that's fine, but I hope you harbor a similar opinion about most of the rest of Major League Baseball, too.

What's wrong with disliking players who show a pattern of cheating? Anything? I didn't think so... And there are a lot of players who fall on the list for me, but Sosa (now Giambi as well) is one who has shown a history of and different methods of cheating to gain success. What "high horse"? Try "level-playing field", nothing high and mighty about it. Why does a person who disdains CHEATING have to be on a "high horse" to talk about it? Are you allowed to talk bad about wrong-doings without being on a "high-horse"? Obviously not in your book.
