Mike Krukow, half of the Giants TV broadcast team (known as 'Kruk & Kuip' with his broadcast partner, Duane Kuiper) will be retiring from broadcasting for medical reasons after the end of the season after 37 years in the booth.

The Giants have been blessed with excellent TV and radio broadcast teams for as long as I can remember, and Krukow and Kuiper are one of the best teams to ever do it. They'll both be in the Hall as broadcasters someday. (Although the fact that Kuiper is not retiring just yet means they probably won't go in together, as would be fitting, unless the Hall makes an exception on their eligibility rules.)

If any of y'all have an MLB TV package that allows you to watch this weekend's Giants games with the home team broadcast, I highly urge you to do so, especially Sunday.

Watching the last game right now is so tough, knowing that this is his last (although he's hinted at being a guest announcer on occasion in the future). Ive watched literally thousands of games he's called over the years, and he's become one of those stabilizing parts of my adult life that is a kick in gut when accepting that it is ending. Having kruk and kuip just on in the background was calming in a way, like having close family members discussing life when you're doing other things. After decades, they almost feel family. And all true giants fans feel the same way.

Plus, with the team being so bad they are really the only reason to watch these games anymore. And with Kuip being sick at the same time, it's a killer for long time giants fans. I feel that even though Kuiper has indicated he isn't ready to retire, I get the sense that he will too and just doesnt want to overshadow Krakow's sendoff by adding attention to himself. They aren't just coworkers for decades. They're legitimately best friends, which is why their banter and discussions come across so well with fans. They are genuine and everything they say means more because of their off and on field relationship based on who they are to each other, as well as their love for the game.

A true end of an era. No more teasing fans for what and how they eat, or what they wear, or the strange and fun things they point out in the bay. And funny enough, being in the most sensitive and PC place in the country, I think he's the only person in the city who would not just be allowed to call women "gamer babes" and not be run out of town, but also be loved for saying it. Women embraced it as a term of endearment because of the amazing human being he has proven to be, while the rest of us would be hated and fired. There's not a person in the city he hasn't won over, and that's saying something.

That said, ive never been happier for someone to go out on his own terms when he decided it's time. Not many deserve retirement and time with their families the way Kruk and Kuip do. I hope they live many more quality years surrounded by their families, and beat their health issues for as long as possible. Few in this modern world have earned this right more than this pair.

Most bittersweet ending I could imagine, and not an exaggeration. Proud of these guys.

Grab some pine meat. One last time...

Kuiper before a homerun call was overturned for being foul: "if that call is overturned one of us is quitting!"

Kuiper as the bottom of the ninth is about to start in a 1-1 game, saying it's time to go home.

My response: **** no! Give me ten extra innings! With a walk off homer to send him off on a high note. Please...

Well ****. **** the dodgers. And calling an ABS challenge in the bottom of the 10th while up 5-1 against a bunch of AA players the last inning of the season is as bush league as it gets. ****. You. Garbage organization, so it's not surprising.

This is a tough one for me, and many others im sure. Im ok getting **** for it, but I'm fighting some eye drainage for some reason. Must've stubbed a toe or something. But this is a tough one emotionally.

Might sound stupid to those who didnt have the privilege of following this team with these guys, even if you hate the team, it's like losing a close uncle who you grew up with and was always there for you even when you didnt know you needed him. These guys were a stabilizing force through some rough stretches in my life, and I guess I was in denial before today. Even if you have a ****ty day, you know you can go home and turn the game on and they provided a calming presence that's hard to describe.

The Giants should be embarrassed for giving everyone a team this horrible, and sending these guys off like this with a team this bad is a little angering, more for these guys than as a fan of the team itself.

36 years of being one of the the best duo amongst the best broadcast team there is. There will never be another like them, and IMHO no-one will ever come close to this pair.

It's tough seeing it end, and it will be awhile before I can get to the acceptance stage...

Ive never watched a sendoff ceremony before for players or coaches or anyone else before, until today. I won't even pretend I stubbed my toe or am cutting onions. Celebrating a legacy and a life lived like his, and the influence and happiness he left on millions over half a century deserves tears of joy and sadness. I only wish I could have left something even close behind when I go. And not just as a professional within a sport, which Im sure seems stupid to most, but as a human. Loving players is fine, but you never really know them. But these guys showed us who they were for 36 years, and you really get to know them and to love them as people, not as athletes.

We should all be so lucky to be so loved and to have left our mark the way he has, and as Kuiper has. He is an example of why sports can be such a great thing to have in life. Not just as a distraction from the difficulties of life, but as a way to really see the good in people and positives they bring to others.

In the end, just another laugher...
