As I recall, Truby had a great 2-3 month stretch immediately after being called up, but sorta struggled after that.

One thing I've noticed is that it seems like everyone has written off Sanchez, and I'm not sure why. Yes he did not have a great season with us last year, but he's been a really good hitter against RHP.

His 2025 with the astros wasn't as apocalyptic as everyone thought either, he put up .2 WAR in 48 games. That's not earth shattering, but it's half a game above replacement level for a platoon guy who had a terrible season.

Carrabis seems pretty convinced that Breggy is signing with AZ.

I expect this to happen.

Lifelong Colt 45's/Astros fan living in Phoenix. People here will be pissed if this happens because it almost certainly means trading Ketel Marte.

Some of the Mariners pitchers desperately need that treatment.

I thought management had issues with Marte as he was a clubhouse problem?

Correa, though I will give Breggy the advantage in being able to stay on the field.

We talking about the same Bregman who missed 40+ games last season?

Correa. He's off the books faster. 5 years of Bregman will be a big drag at the end, especially for a club that may well be in a rebuild at the end.

I think that's the media's doing honestly. He missed time with an injury but otherwise shows up, plays and produces. He's signed for 5 more years i believe. Whatever the reality the people I go to games with want nothing to do with Bregman if the team loses Marte.

Anybody wanna go to the playoff game on Saturday? Only negative is I'm in the seat next to you!

Section 412, row 18. Not trying to make a big profit. Face value is a good deal for me just to get money back ($107)

I figured I'd invite one of y'all first before I posted it on the ticket exchange board.

If no takers on here I'll post on ticket exchange at about 9 PM tonight

Luckily it's winter so… (checks weather app) …. nevermind it'll feel like a September game

no lost (or gained) draft pick since he resigned with SD and he can't get another QO attached if he opts out next year

Seems pretty cheap for a pitcher of his caliber and age. I guess he's hoping for the Alonso pay off, where he performs well this next year and opts out for the bigger contract

Think it's one he only takes / gets from SD because of the QO. In many ways this is what MLB wants, increasing the likelihood of guys staying with their existing teams (even if just for an extra season). There is some risk though for SD given his injury history.

Definitely risk on the SD side. It's similar to the JV deal back in 2022. Pitcher does well and goes to get paid. Pitcher does poorly or gets hurt, they have a soft landing with another 50 M (25 M in JV's case).

Pretty interesting article on the ball/strike system from the manager perspective. Another analytic to track. I thought the comments on if they'll allow the pitcher to challenge or not were interesting.

If you were manager, would you have a rule that your pitchers could not challenge?

Random trade idea.

Sean Murphy.

Why?
  • He would address the backup or "co" catcher spot that Caratini
  • A true defensive and framing stud.
  • He should be available since Baldwin just won ROY & the Braves probably want to get away from his contract.
  • His offense should play well at home - 25.4% Air Pull Rate
Why Not?
  • His batting has tanked over the last two seasons.
  • He's owed 45 M over 3 seasons (plus a club option for 1 more).
He's a nice buy-low candidate who should be very cheap in terms of prospect capital.

I'd like to at least kick the tires on Yasmani Grandal. He had a decent 2024, performed well in his short stint in Triple-A last year, and is a free agent mulling retirement.

He has been an elite framer, bats from both sides of the plate, and is a "pitcher's best friend". He has had his ups and downs in the locker room, but with Altuve and Correa they should be able to keep him focused. The biggest benefit is we could likely get him dirt cheap.

I don't like that guy. He'll be 38 and has had significant drop off the last 3 seasons. Didn't play MLB ball last season at all.

Extremely firm no from me.
