I was dating this hot chick who was up in Seattle. Went up there to visit and my plan was to see her and Griffey.

She got txts to a Saturday game. We got food poisoning Friday night and spent Saturday throwing up. She said, "you can go without me." I told her if there was anyway I could stop throwing up long enough to go to the game, I would.

It was a terrible visit and the food poisoning was illustrative of how bad the trip was. Apparently we have the same taste in women.

I'm excited about this trip. The wife and I go up to Washington every year to hike Mt Rainier for a few days, then we head back over to Woodinville for wine and whiskey tastings for another few days. Great trip every year

I'm not sure. They gave up their number 9 prospect who has played in 16 MLB games with a line of .156/.224/.311. And the other two guys are unnamed pitchers, from what I have seen. That seems like not a lot to give up for the guy who has the most HRs to ever be traded. Immediate middle of the order bat and a badass defensive 3B.

He is, and the Diamondbacks probably felt like they had to get something before he walked this offseason... Still just feels like not a crazy haul for the most home runs to ever be traded for in a season.

Maybe Locklear ends up being a beast, idk. His minor league numbers are pretty incredible.

Eovaldi's win tonight is the 100th of his career and he lowered his already MLB leading ERA lol.

But not an All Star…

I'm really glad the Rangers decided to give him his All Star bonus anyway.

You probably know this already, but the best food there is the clam chowder from the Ivar's stand behind home plate. Served in a bread bowl that you eat after eating the soup.

I'll take a series split against the Mariners this week. We don't win in Seattle often and they have the pitching advantage. They also made the biggest trade additions so far. A split would be a big win!

Also, at what point do we at least consider sending Rocker to the minors? I don't believe that he is fully ready for the big leagues yet and the longer he is up on the main roster the longer it will take him to develop. Send him down for the rest of the year so that way he is fully ready next season. Have Gray take his place in the rotation.

Maybe we should try him to only pitch at GLF:

A: 9.91, 7GS

He is showing improvement which will go a long way in the next 5 yrs if he continues to settle in:
A/M: 8.10, 5GS
June: 4.12, 4GS
July: 4.95, 4GS (4.50 ERA with Higgy)

This is why Higgy is his usual catcher. The last GS was with Heim (Higgy was out), which likely inflated his July ERA:
Heim: 8.68, 5GS
Higgy: 4.39, 8GS

I suspect Gray and Latz will get GS at the expense of Rocker... and probably everyone not named Corbin.

Rocker goes tonight in Seattle. He should have a good outing, with the way the Seattle park plays.

Then, he is projected to start v NYY. I'd let him have that GS, for sure. Let's see how he approaches that game, but I'd have a short leash.

Mostly the NL getting the bulk. Astros pick up a SP. Alcantara 6.36 ERA, 21GS. Not sure the terms but he got $17M in '25 and is owed $17M in 2026.

Also, the start against the Tigers helped out his July ERA by a lot. The Tigers scored 3 runs that entire series. Gotta give credit to Rocker but he got the Tigers at the perfect time as they were in a huge offensive slump. Rockers has the potential to be a solid 2 in the rotation. He just needs more time to figure it out in the minors. I wouldn't mind having him up here if he could eat innings but he currently only has 59IP for the year. Right now he is basically a guy that can give you 5IP 2-3ER per game. I just know Rocker has the talent to perform much better than he's shown in his time at this big league level.

Did not expect that. Not sure how the Astros can afford that.

Not yet. It's a big risk because of the contract and what not, but also huge huge upside. He was the 2022 Cy Young winner and put up 8.0 WAR, then had TJ. He's got ridiculous stuff just needs to put it back together after TJ imo.

It's not really a huge financial risk. 2027 is a club option.

Now, it might end up being a waste of money -- but it's not really going to impact what you can do moving forward since you can shed him after next year.

It all depends on what talent you are giving up for him -- it's not going to be just a salary dump.
