Hey gang, I had a question I'm sure this thread gets a lot, but looking for some suggestions to make sure my son has a great time for his first Astros game. He's four, but looking for suggestions on best places to sit, what time to arrive and what there is to do at MMP, etc. He's been to a lot of A&M games, but we haven't gotten him down to Houston yet.

We're going to the day game against the A's on the 28th and just want to see what advice you guys might have.
There was at one time a kids play area near Section 132. You could take a picture in a simulated dugout and run a race against a mechanical base runner. Not sure if it's still there this year or not. It was outside the concourse but before you exit the stadium gates.

There are some good photo ops at places along the main concourse. Behind home plate there's a Yordan cutout with a height meter and a framed flag made of baseballs, in Centerfield there's the mural, and at times behind the Crawford Boxes in left field they have some games set up with various prizes. That's also the general area where the Astros Buddies booth is.

In the 300 level just off of the escalator there used to be a VR batting game. Again, not sure it's there this year and the website is little help.

We took our daughter to her first game last year when she was about a year old. I'd echo the club level seating. Especially if you can get the top row that has bar style seating for all your food and drinks. Guest services on the lower concourse third base side is where we got her certificate. Easy process and quick. 4 might be an easier age to manage in regular seats but I'd still recommend club for less traffic, even on a day game.

Make sure and take your kids on a lap of the whole level you're on during the game so they can see all the sites and not get too bored. There are several areas that are cool to look at no matter how old you are.

Plus, the Astros are guaranteed to hit at least 1 HR while you're not watching.

Late call for Astros Bingo today, it's been a real lousy 24 hours on the 1836 front.

Yet again back up to 83-win pace

Yanier is en fuego, up to a 17 HR, 87 RBI pace. Last year he had 16 HR and 84 RBI. His boxes are 20 and 90 this year.

Christian Walker up to a SIXTY TWO RBI pace with 3 more yesterday. He's hitting .385 with 6 RBI in the last 7 games.

Paredes retakes the OPS lead at .787.

Jake still smoking at .291.

Rodgers on pace to start 112 games (100 is the square).

Angels back up to 96 loss pace, White Sox at 115.

The A's draw 12,000 for a third straight game and PASS THE RAYS in average attendance. A's ahead 10,166 to 10,006.

Pressley didn't pitch in the Cubs' loss yesterday, but the guy got the save over him on Saturday gave up 3 earned runs in 1/3 inning and took the loss.

SQUARE UPDATE: The Aggies' chances of making the tourney, much less the super regional are looking pretty dim right now. Seven of us predicted them to fall short of the Supers while another 2 picked them to make the Supers.

Thought this might be a fun add-on every 10 games or so, a look at the projected playoffs right now. Most team are right around the 1/4 pole (40-41 games)

AL Playoff Picture
#1 Detroit - bye
#2 New York Yankees - bye
#3 Seattle vs. #6 Boston
#4 Kansas City vs. #5 Cleveland

Astros/A's/Twins are all 1/2 game behind Boston for #6

NL Playoff Picture
#1 Los Angeles - bye
#2 New York - bye
#3 Chicago Cubs vs. #6 San Francisco
#4 San Diego vs. #5 Philadelphia

Cubs have the 6th best record but would get #3 seed.

sorry but that seems to be a waste of police resources. We have real rampant crime in this town. Sorry Lance had to deal with internet idiots, but come on.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

I disagree

I'm tired of the internet idiots getting away with shlt like this and I don't mind taking using some resources to make an example out of some these losers.

I live a mile from downtown and always find myself confused when crime here is described as rampant.

Also agree that consequences for unhinged behavior as described in the Lance death threats are worthwhile.

While it is wrong Lance and his family has to deal with this, would HPD put the same effort in if it was one of us who received some type of threat over the internet? (rhetorical question because we all know the answer)

The sad truth is this happens all the time it's just never made public. I know for a fact that Marwin's kids were getting death threats at school from other kids and parents when he was with the yankees a couple years back. There are sicko idiots everywhere unfortunately.

HPD found Reggie's stolen car the next day

they'll have the Lance-threats case solved by COB tomorrow

After living in Denver and experiencing Coors Field for several years, the experience in Daiken with the roof closed is underwhelming.

I am still not sure why we even needed a retractable roof as rarely as the Astros actually have it open. Seems like even on nights with absolutely perfect weather, unless it is a nationally televised game where MLB forces them to open it, they keep it closed.

Until Yordan returns, this should be the regular lineup. When Yordan gets back, he should replace Caratini and that should be the regular lineup.

Without it, they would be forced to play on turf. Opening the roof lets them have grass. But I agree that playing games with the roof open is an experience that doesn't happen often enough.

I'd wager the experience at coors is currently a little underwhelming seeing as they've been out scored like 60-20 in their last 5 games
BQ2001

Coors is almost always 50/50 home team/away team, the other times it's majority away team fans. Away team fans come to see a great park and cheap beer. Rockies fans show up to socialize and there is a baseball game going on.
No one here in Denver really cares about the Rockies as a team.
texasaggie2015
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The best way I can describe the fans is they were Broncos fans looking for something to do during the offseason
BQ2001
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's very true. I love going to Rockies games, but I just wait for the $5 ticket deals or someone gives away a ticket on Reddit. Just sit in the beautiful weather and enjoy baseball.
