hitting with RISP has been horrid this game

Impressive amount of fight from a giant deficit even though it's trending toward not enough. Much improved from the first 15 games or so. Crazy to think we probably win this game without the Peña error or leaving the bases loaded in the 5th.

Pinch-hitting Yainer there was a head-scratcher though with how often he strikes out on pitches that don't even look like strikes coming out of the hand.

I will never understand why a DH needs a day off. Cal Ripken is spinning in his rocking chair.

One of the more "That's baseball, Suzyn" games in a while. Still a good series win. Not that mad about it but the fact that they're so good at poor RISP ABs that they got the tying run to the plate three times in the last five innings and plated absolutely no one, their 1B cleanup hitter is coin flip on great or abjectly awful, Altuve is a magic 8 ball from day to day, and the manager thought pinch-hitting the catcher who flails at anything within 30 feet instead of the closest thing to slugger this team's got was the move are all hard to solve for in the aggregate.

He's a .250 hitter, so he's going to fail three out of every four chances. 2-3 one night followed by 0-5 is .250. If he comes through in bunches, he's going to fail in bunches, too.

Cam striking out looking with the bases loaded and one out on a fastball right down the pipe was probably more painful than Walker not coming through today. It's baseball, though. These things happen.

If what was published is true about the Astros having an out clause 45 days into the season, then maybe soon. But Rodgers' $2M is probably worth keeping him around unless we are so close to the tax threshold that we need to save every penny we can for potential deadline moves.

Yeah no doubt. Cam got caught sleeping looking for offspeed and let one right by him.

It's just frustrating with Walker after seeing glimpses and thinking he's about to pull out of it and go on a run then he comes out and lays an egg like today.

Seems like a lot of money to pay for somebody who so far hasn't been significantly better defensively than Altuve at 2B and isn't better offensively than the other players who can replace Altuve at LF. So if we are not getting better defensively or offensively putting him in at 2B, why are we spending $2M to trot him out there? Surely there is a cheap defensive whiz IF out there in our farm system that can hit .175+ at the back end of the order if we really want to upgrade the defense at 2B, right?

Maybe Brice if he's a realistic option anytime soon. I recall reading here the nerds or others in the organization thinking they could tweak and improve Rodgers' hitting.

I don't get the sense they want to put Altuve back at 2nd full-time.
