I feel like there is zero chance Bregman sniffs 200 M. I even feel like the Chapman deal doesn't get matched.

5/125 is more what I think he's worth. The Altuve deal.

Given his recent elbow issues and his early season terribleness, I would be hesitant to offer Bregman anything over 3 years without opt outs after 3. I just don't see him being a top notch hitting 3B for many more years going forward and his elbow scares me that he might lose value on defense as well. I like the guy and I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't think his long term future prospects are worth ransoming the future of the club over.

Will make a competitive offer to Bregman, but will unlikely top 6 years.

Will have some flexibility to sign Tucker with money coming off the books after 25.

Lots of SP options so Kooch ain't coming back.

If we don't get Breggy then 1B becomes a priority.

Diaz is a long term catcher even with fresh blood being drafted.

Seems like an easy solution would be to improve his skills at 1B in the off-season and let Caratini split time with a newbie (rook or depth signing).

Just makes too much sense

More sense than leaving him at catcher (his natural position) and finding an actual 1B? I can understand the idea if were trying to go real cheap, but Diaz already is cheap right now and Caratini is more versatile for the C/1B platoon.

Add Billy Crystal as another Yankees fan who has the Astros living in his head rent free.

This is really sad. Yankees fans should be focused on the WS and the excitement of being there -- but they still want to talk about the Astros and the fact that in 2017 -- they couldn't score runs on the road.

The good news is whoever loses, it will be hilarious.

Yankees to come this close and be relegated to crying themselves to sleep with "27 rings" for the 16th or whatever straight year.

Doyers to pay a billion just to end up with still no non-Mickey Mouse ring since 1988.

Every second of airtime devoted to crying about the Astros is free advertising and objectively hilarious.

Actually sort of an absolute win.

The Cards owe him $64M over the next 3 seasons. If you get them eating some $ that's very manageable. Still wouldn't be my preferred path, granted I don't see many preferred path options either.
