If JV survives the first inning without giving up a crooked number he'll be fine. Seems like he gets off to a rough start with his command and then settles in.

I think he meant magic number to be eliminated from contention for it, not to clinch it.

Because if they run the table they can get to 82 and both Minny and Detroit are at 80 now and are tied for the last WC spot. That's the 3 for the magic number for them. It's still possible they can get the last WC.

Detroit has the third WC spot right now with 80 wins. If the Rangers win out to get to 82 and somehow everyone from Detroit down fails to each 82, the Rangers would be in the last WC spot.

Mathematically, they are not eliminated. In reality, they are toast.

Go to Spring Training if you want to catch a foul ball. One of my coolest fun facts is that pre-debut Mike Trout threw a ball that hit my elbow during warmups at Spring Training and Sosh made him apologize. This was my way of weaseling in my cool Trout story lol
