They're not saying the ball hit the bat.

They're saying there was not convincing evidence of a HBP so the call on the field stands.

Just an awful call on the field.

I didn't think foul ball was reviewable unless it was beyond first/third.

So wouldn't they have only been challenging if the ball at hit him?

The call on the field….which was that it was a foul ball. Distinction without a difference. They knew it hit something, and it didn't hit the bat. It's not rocket science for an umpiring crew to get that right.

This is the real answer even though the one angle clearly shows it hitting his elbow.

MLB needs to make foul balls a reviewable play

But the way the MLB rule is written is garbage and the call on the field was dog shlt.

How can you call that a foul ball? Never even came close to his bat.
