Wandy had a good career. I loved watching him throw his looping curve ball.

While I'm on that topic.
Oswalts fastball looked like it rose and increased speed.
Devenski's circle change is up there too, deadly arm side break on that pitch.

Anyone else have any notable pitcher/pitch combos they enjoyed watching?
I loved watching Nolan 12-6 curve. When he had that thing going right, watching guys up there hunting 100 mph heaters get their knees buckled by that thing for strike 3 was a thing of beauty.

2005 Astros is probably up there.

The top 3 starters, definitely

Roy Oswalt, 20-12, 2.94 ERA
Andy Pettitte, 17-9, 2.39 ERA
Roger Clemens, 13-8, 1.87 ERA

Brandon Backe, 10-8, 4.76 ERA
Wandy Rodriguez, 10-10, 5.53 ERA
Ezequiel Astacio, 3-6, 5.37 ERA

Oh yeah, THAT Ezekiel Astacio.

Funny how I have zero memory of some players.
Yeah he was erased completely for me. Maybe if I watched some old footage of him but I seriously was like:

If you saw his face, you might remember.

I remember him just because he was one of the guys that was supposed to be can't miss coming up and completely bombed out. Same with Tim Redding.

The Gamel pickup has been underrated.

I wonder why we didn't sign Brandon Belt? We could use the help at first base and he's sitting out there and wants to play.

Darryl Kile had an absolutely devastating 12-6 curveball.

From Ezekiel Astacio's wiki

"He gave up the game-winning home run to Geoff Blum in Game 3 of the 2005 World Series against the Chicago White Sox."

That HR really hurt

This is absolutely insane to me

A little misleading...

We did not even play the Reds in 2017 or 2018. We got swept in 3 games in Cinci in 2019. Did not play them in 2020, 2021, or even 2022. Yes we got swept at home in 3 games in 2023.

Back in 2016 we took 2 of 3 from them including the last 2 games.

So since 2016 we're 2-8 against them. Still terrible but it's not like we were playing them every year and we're 0-21.

Lets win the next 2 and push that record to 4-8!!!

So I guess we can call him Money Belt.

I'm no MD but that makes sense to me. Seems plausible that they didn't see the fracture because of the swelling and only guess it may have been fractured based on the healing.

I just don't get the whole controversy. Does really matter what he's been out with?

I just want him back. Makes no difference to me whether it was a bruise or a fracture or a contusion or whatever.

So I guess we are done with getting any more pitchers back for the year now that they said Garcia wouldn't be coming back? We may be loaded next year, can you imagine our middle relief if we would get Garcia, Javier, Ugride, and (big if) McCoulers back.. craxy stuff
They couldn't all start so some would possibly hit the pen

May need to sell off one to get a first baseman..

At this point I think you package a couple to go get a first baseman or 3b or potential outfield replacement for a probably gone tuck

Oof Yainer down on 3 pitches. 3 consecutive whiffs on the changeup (between Yordan and Yainer). Lock in, please.

But we're better than most in the middle innings (2nd time through, etc). We seem to whiff a lot early, and then lock in deeper in the game.
