3-4 roadie versus the Os and Phills. And it easily could have been 5-2 or 6-1. Only one real uncompetitive loss. One loss in ManfredBall and 2 freak losses on late big flys.

I've been thinking about this and the possibility of playing the WC round. I doubt Espada would move anyone ahead of Valdez and Verlander. Just too much veteran experience in the playoffs. Say they win those two games. In round 2 you have Brown, Arrighetti, and Kikuchi who have, arguably, been incredibly good. You could make an argument that Brown deserves the 1 or 2 slot, and SA and YK have pitched well enough to start playoff games.
I wonder if Brown and Espada are considering the notion that a WC round might set the Divisional Series up like they would otherwise want.
A lot can change, but JV has not been great in the playoffs (unless my memory is selective) and I would rather see Brown and Kikuchi twice over him.
I'd also heavily consider moving Blanco to the pen since he has experience in that role. He can still be a swing starter and go a couple of innings later in a series.
Sorry, just daydreaming about the playoffs. The past couple of games dented my enthusiasm.

Watching Yordan Alvarez play baseball is one of the more pleasant things I've done in watching Astros baseball for over 50 years. He has plate discipline and a nice, even approach at the plate.

Maybe it's just me but this year seems that lots of teams are DFAing guys. Maybe it's a function of a slow trade deadline from high prices and too many teams still in it. And now that they aren't they are cutting payroll.
