Wagner is a JAG. Loperfido has serious K issues and isn't exactly young. He may figure it out but I wouldn't be shocked if he's also a JAG. Bloss to me is the biggest loss but we have done fairly well in developing SP. Agree the totality of the value seems like way too much but as been said a top 5 prospect for us may be seen as a top 10-15 prospect elsewhere.
The odd part to me is you are trying to win and gave up 2 guys on your big league roster. Who takes Joey's role? Leon?

Whitcomb and Dezenzo are better corner IF prospects than Wagner. Leon, Cole and Melton are similar to Joey. We know Dana loves both Melton and Cole, who are both left handed hitters, so Joey was duplicative. Leon gives you a right-handed version of basically the same thing.redline248 said:

Wagner probably was going to be nothing more than organizational depth. Didn't he project as a 2B because of his arm?

I agree with all of this … not really upset by the fact of who we gave up but all of them for any rental not named Juan Soto just defies belief.

ESPN's trade grades have the Astros winning this trade ... I just can't fathom it. If Kikuchi was more than a serviceable 4/5 guy that shouldn't be pitching a playoff game, then I'd understand

None of the guys we traded are franchise type talents. Kikuchi owns the Orioles and Yanks so he better be starting any playoff games against them. He can also be a lefty bullpen option if it's not a good starting matchup.CoachRTM said:

It doesn't look like a good trade purely on value but Bloss is the only guy we gave up I have any fear of thinking "Wow I wish we didn't trade that guy"
The ONLY way I can see redemption for Dana is a WS ring with Kikuchi being an key piece in postseason.
