I know many like to use the 2019 Nats and 2005 Astros as aspirational role models. Both of those teams had very similar records after 71 games (33-38 and 32-39). The Nats then went on a run and got to .500 by game 80. The 2005 team also got hot but took until game 86. We would need to go 11-4 in the next 15 games to get in pace with the 2005 club and that's just to get in position. Obviously both of those teams continued from there with blistering second halves. The Nats went 53-29 and the 2006 club went 46-30 after reaching .500, which is difficult to do for any team in any stretch of baseball.

I just hope the brass is being realistic about this. With so few sellers this team could make out like bandits and completely turn around this farm system.

JV can miss a turn and stay on pace for 140 innings (and the player option)

but if he misses a second start...it will give us something to track in September

currently at 57 IP thru 10 starts
