So we most definitely lose if your professional baseball players don't play baseball.

Sir, it isn't a fluke when baseball players hit a baseball and said baseball flies over the fence. He didn't do some miraculous never before play that was a miracle to happen and hasn't been seen in a baseball game.

He hit a homerun with a runner on in a tied game.

I get your point but maybe step away from the sauce and breathe a bit

Asking again- was the last catch of the game initially ruled safe? Just trying to figure out why gametracker on mlb initially said no out.

And again, *****ing about blackout rules. We live in CO so I get to watch just about every Astros game on appletv. We're on vacation in Broken Bow, OK (guessing about 6 or 7 hours from Houston?) and the games are blacked out here. Absolute crap.

Yes MLB blackout rules are horrible and are not consistent. Where you were, you can't get the Astros, Rangers, Royals, and Cardinals. I live in San Diego and the Dodgers/Angels are not blacked out and they are an hour away. We even are lucky enough to get the local 9 by paying a bit extra.

To your question ... there seemed to be nothing odd about the last play. Must have just been a gametracker error

Wild night on the thread.

Need to win more than one game to rekindle hopes, but one step at a time.

The Abreu decision was indefensible. Good thing Marmol out-braindeaded Espada by leaving Romero in way too long on his second consecutive >1 inning appearance.

more fun home run stats...

the Astros are now tied for 3rd in MLB in home runs with 77

the Astros lead MLB in HR's hit in home games (with 52 in 33 games)

I guess the batter's eye at MMP has been fixed

the Astros are tied for 24th in HR's in road games (with 25 in 28 games)

The last few days bumped them. No way they have been that high for long.

He's still popping it up and his usually BB-K ratio isn't there. If can't figure that out, the ceiling will be limited and less likely to continue. He needs to balance his normal strengths with his pull power.

His K rate pisses me off because I know damn well so many of them aren't strikeouts he's just getting shafted.

And I don't think that is something that will change. He's not going to just magically start chasing pitches he knows aren't strikes because sometimes they're called strikes.

Yeah I'd like to see that missed strikes chart on Bregs. Eyeball test says it's been atrocious this year.

Define many....

Has he been shafted? Yes. I'd be shocked if it's that large of a percentage of his 35 k's.....

Not sure how many of the strikeouts are on bad calls, but I do think a lot of his pop ups are when he's in "protect the plate mode" after a bad call early in the count

Eyeball test to me also says he gets a disproportionate number of bad calls

He struck out twice yesterday. One was a horrible call and the other was probably a strike but right on the edge

The 2nd one wasn't even that much on the edge. It got a lot of plate. He just wasn't looking fastball at all and got fooled. But the first one was a horrible call.

Yeah, he even knew it was a strike and immediately started walking to the dug out

Yeah, he even knew it was a strike and immediately started walking to the dug out
so only 50% were correct…not a good ratio. And strikeouts aren't only on the last call that's just the one people remember.

I think he would feast on an automated system.

You really extrapolating one game out to the 58 he's played?
MaxPower

Yeah I think that's a good point and interesting dynamic for his free agency. Could his value increase significantly with an ABS next year? I look at it similar to the ban on the shift, which helped lefties a lot (Seager comes to mind).

I don't know how to do it by batter easily but we are definitely getting hammered as a team.

Yes we are. And I don't think you can filter by player. But know they have the data.

At no point did I say 50% of all his strikeouts were bs. I said last night.

You asked for an example like there wasn't a perfectly easy one last night. I'm sorry your narrative doesn't fit, or you dislike Bregman or whatever.

Farmer mentioned his K rate and I said it would be lower if his zone was automated. It's as simple as that.

Did you just get back from a funeral by chance (sorry that's in jest after last night)

the Astros are 17-12 vs. teams under .500

and the Cardinals qualify

surprisingly, the Cubs have hit a tailspin and fallen under .500 -- which makes the sweep at Wrigley more regrettable

MLB is probably giving out secret bonuses to umps and teams for doing their part against the dirty cheaters.

Seriously though, I'm sure they're salivating at the potential LA-NY World Series matchup they were "robbed" of in 2017.

If this team ever gets it together again this season, that stuff won't matter if we can just get into the postseason.
FrioAg 00

I'm not saying I have any confidence we can do it, but it would be really sweet to sneak into the playoffs after being left for dead, and then manage to upset NY yet again

No idea how accurate baseball savant's 3d pitch chart is, but they actually showed bregmans other strike out looking as catching the zone. The orange ball in the bottom left of the zone. Basically a perfect pitch.

Looks like the Brewers kept the better of the two coaches. I know it's not that simple, but goodness Cubs fans are frustrated.

I'm going to predict that Shohei's interpreter's bookie in LA was a focal point for players across multiple sports.

There will be a lot of small names and all the big ones will get quietly redacted to protect the sports.

Little guys don't have an interpreter to shield them. Big guys always do, unless they are pure idiots.

While this is good in a normal year, it will need to improve dramatically if we hope to turn it around this year and dig out of this hole. Need to play something like .750 ball against the "bad" teams.
