there is a certain laziness to internal hires

because it is generally quick and easy

but limits the talent pool -- which is usually a big mistake

Side note. Our first is due next week so that'll be a happy summer and she will keep me distracted from this team

It'll be Aggie baseball, pool days with the baby and sleepless nights for the next 2-3 months

Whoever told you 2-3 months lied through their teeth.

But congrats!! I hope everyone is healthy, bouncing and full of joy at the tjack household.

Not getting anything for guys not on your list so might as well ride it out at that point. Teams aren't paying to take our trash away.

I think Brown is more of a problem than Espada. He might not be a fiery leader but I'm not sure I see what he's going that's so wrong, the team is screwing up every way it's possible to screw up.

It's a continuation of every bad spell from the past several seasons…they get into runs where they make stupid mistakes and look like they're completely uninspired.

The difference is that they were playing for a guy last year with some skins on the wall who could at least step-in and get them in the right headspace and now they're running over a guy that has no juice.

Teams notoriously excel the year after Dusty is sent packing…which is because they tend to go away from the players' manager model and the Astros decided to inexplicably go the other way.

This is exactly right. Espada is a self-admitted hands off manager. Most baseball managers are to a degree but there are levels of it. But in his defense even he must have thought the players had more spine than this crap.

There it is! The official breaking point where it has now come full circle that Dusty was actually good last year and without him it might have been this last year because he had skins on the wall and corrected them.

This thread and the watchlist was the only thing keeping me paying this site…I think in done now.

Our first was sleeping through the night by 8-10 weeks.

Now….knowing he was that easy, I know our newborn will be the opposite….

Singleton has a higher OPS than Bregman

both below .600

I hated the Espada hire and hated that it seemed to be that was where things were going last season…it's actually gone so much worse than I thought it would and I'd have been called crazy for what I thought last Summer when he was just being named the presumptive guy.

If that's how you read that, then I think none of us are being robbed of your presence.

Let's correct your take here, however…

Dusty Baker was awful last season, he only avoided disaster b/c of his history…

Joe Espada would've been just as awful and the team never would've made it as far with him…

They should've gone to a discipline-based coach who presses for accountability and they utterly failed.

If you think these are hot takes or jumping the shark…then I don't think anything can help you.

A pre-pubescent teenage boy has more power than Alex Bregman. He is a weak ground ball waiting to happen.

Please at least get something for Bregman as a rental by the deadline.
thanks to Bregman's salary...

he's potentially a $15 MM rental

going to take some strong negotiation from Dana to get a lot in return

That's not fair. Adolis was born that way. Didn't you know that? His mama called him Bambi or something.

I only pay for Fubo to watch the Astros, so at least I will be saving $100 when I cancel at the end of this month.

I wish I could cancel the MLB.tv subscription I have mid season, but I can't.

Yeah, I paid for the full year as well. At least I can watch the Orioles who are fun to watch.

I know his exit velocity went down to 88 mph last year on average. Where does he sit so far in 2024? His contact is so weak.
