I think it's simply the case of guys being hurt and/or sucking. Not much the manager can do. GM keeps bringing up arms and they keep getting shelled. Guys you thought you could depend on are now getting shelled, too. It doesn't really matter who's making out the lineup right now.

And you've got two guys in the lineup that drove in 90+ runs last year not driving in any so far without decent bench options to stick in the lineup in their place.

To clarify, I don't disagree if you make the playoffs you have a shot. Thats more true in baseball than any other sport. What I disagree with is assuming we will have some magical run to make up 10 games the last two months because "muh we're the Astros". There will be hard times and good times. You make the hard times really hard for really long by living in denial. You could make a couple trades this year to unload some future spend for big league ready prospects and then reload in free agency to compete as soon as next season. Or you can miss the playoffs, let everyone walk for dart throw draft picks that are years away and scramble to field a decent club.
