Joel Kuhnel is here. Looks like Parker Mushinski has been sent down. The Astros will also need a corresponding move to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

2 options used for Parker in 14 games...yikes

It's one "option" for the year. But he can only come and go like 5 times in the year. At the 5th time (I think) he has to stay up.

Tonight needs to be 8 innings of work from the pornstache. If he goes out early and the pen has to go 5 IP this homestand will get ugly. They are gutted and need a night off. Preferably 2 out of 3.

Wrong. I said 3 or 4. And I've routinely said it's less about Yordan and more about Bregman. The point was moving Bregman away from run producing and into get on base focus where he can walk and slap singles and hit some doubles which is his strength. Bregman shifting focus back to getting on base would help him break out of this funk. He's focusing on something he's just not good at. His swing is very compact and on a very linear plane. It succeeds when pitchers throw to his plane. With protection behind him, that will happen more often.Beat40 said:
I've stopped responding to him about this topic because every argument he's made has pointed toward Yordan in the 2-spot or in the 3-spot at minimum even though he wants him in the 4-spot.
Who in Astros history had a crazy “Linsanity” run?

I think he's playing "who can I DFA that won't get claimed" roulette.Mathguy64 said:
Dana is playing reliever roulette. Grab a warm body, throw them at a team and see what you get. If it's bad, toss them back and spin the wheel again.
So far it's been a lot of spinning.

There is no Astros lineup yet because the team is evaluating a few players with nagging injuries and at least one with an illness. Chas McCormick is one of them — he has a sore hamstring, Joe Espada said.

And based on performance to date, Yordan's RBI count should be higher than what he's got. It's not, because he's not batting behind guys who get on base at a high enough clip. Yordan is going to be Yordan no matter where he is in the lineup.
To date:
Yordan
61 PA's
55 AB's
18 H (0.327 avg)
3 2B's
4 HR's
12 RBI's
6 BB's
8 SO's
0 GDP's
49% Hard hit rate
27%/29%/40% line drive/ground ball/fly ball
37 baserunners and 24% batted in
Bregman
59 PA's
54 AB's
13 H (0.241 avg)
5 2B's
0 HR's
2 RBI's
5 BB's (0.305 OBP)
9 SO's
1 GDP's
40% Hard hit rate
18%/44%/20% line drive/ground ball/fly ball
41 baserunners and 5% batted in
Bregman has seen a whopping 2 less PA's, but has seen 4 more baserunners while driving in almost no baserunners, yet walking at a similar clip. And you could argue that Bregman in the 2 hole with protection behind him would lead to seeing more pitches, a better average, and giving Yordan even more of a boost of baserunners.
Again, it's not about Yordan. It's anout maximizing both players. Bregman's tools are for getting on base and advancing runners. Yordan's tools are for driving in runners. Bregman is useless below 3 in the lineup and maximized at 2. Yordan is good anywhere, but maximized 2 through 4.
