His fastball was sitting at 91 all game and I was told he consistently hits 94-95. Makes me wonder if he had fatigue going into the game or was too jacked up pregame and wore himself out.

I don't know the extent of the league (though what I have paid attention to seems higher than normal?), but I can't help but wonder if it's an organizational thing. Maybe the new people have a different philosophy than Lunhow had about training pitchers? Did we have as many injuries prior to 2020?

In this kid's case, you never know if it's training or just increase in work. How old is he?

Yes things have changed. The sweeper has become en vogue and teams have pushed harder and harder for spin on pretty much everything. It's basically just us keeping up with the jones'.

I know spin has been king in baseball for a while, and I don't dispute that it likely has lead to more injuries. I was just wondering if the Astros, specifically, have changed the way the train/prepare pitchers. For example, I read about a story where Lunhow wanted the minor league pitchers doing long toss, and one of the minor league coaches told him no, that's dumb and Lunhow fired him. So, with the "back of the baseball card" crew back in charge, I wonder if things are different.


(I make now claims as to whether or not long toss helps or hinders pitchers in terms of preventing injury)
