I will say this - Peña's AB was bad.

Big brain move from Marmol, Mikolas was bound for a CG. Our lineup wants to get home literally now though, so it'll work out anyway.

I would have pinch hit Caratini for Abreu there. Caratini has played first a little in the past and he knows these Cardinal pitchers from his time in the NL Central. Sure, he hasn't played first in a while but what do you have to lose at this point? I wouldn't give him starts there- but in the 8th inning of a close game when you're 7 games back? Sure.

You also have to include Chas in that. He's another guy that has been re-inserted into the lineup quite often that isn't producing.
I'm a Jake Meyers fan, but Jake batting 4th or 5th is a bad sign for our offense. He was supposed to provide some speed and pop at the bottom of the order. Not be a run-producer in the middle of it.

Yep. You took away at bats from guys who were producing and an offense that started to catch its rhythm in favor of inserting Abreu and Chas back.
