His average is fine but when has he had a meaningful hit or an extra base hit this year? He might hit a single but it never amounts to anything and he doesn't have a single RBI yet

I'm not suggesting he's killing it. But he's having to play because Abreu is so bad. If the starting 1B were having an average year for a normal 1B, Singleton would be a nothing burger to discuss. And for the record, Big Jon has an OPS above that of Bregman and McCormick. He's not the problem. He's a backup 1B.

I've said it before. I think this team has to make a hard choice before the start of May. They cannot wait any longer. If Bregman and Chas were playing better they could afford a bad Jose for longer. But they aren't. Keep this pace up for 2 more weeks and they will be in a hole that may be so deep they can't get out of.

It's more than Singleton/Abreu. Chaz is lost. Breggy hasn't looked great. LOB continues to haunt us. Tuck is up and down. This team just can't figure out how to put it all together consistently. It's going to be a long season if they don't make some changes soon.

I am most sure of Espada was the answer, and by no means am I saying it's all his fault. The roster has holes. But we may not need a cozy players coach right now. These guys are on cruise control.
