Thinking more about this trade:

Kikuchi provides immediate help and will eat innings. He won't light the world on fire, but he is serviceable.

Bloss had upside, but he was just on the team out of necessity.

Lopes may end up being good, and he may not. He's probably just another guy. When the organization didn't try him at first with the struggles at that position, it seemed like his days were numbered.

Wagner was probably not going to crack the major league squad.

It's still an overpay and sucks though.

It doesn't matter if all of that is true. We have nothing behind them and are about to lose Bregman, Tucker, and probably Framber, and likely not get a single thing in return for any of them.

Everything Luhnow did to build the farm and program up for sustained success.. wiped out quicker than you can blink. All we had was mid level prospects because we'd already traded the guys who would have played before them. Now we trade the mid levels. Teams don't recover from pillaging their farm like this. Many of us were active fans in the early 2000's. We will be in complete rebuild within 2-4 years.
