July pitching for our "7-8-9" Not a fan of Abreu's WHIP, but otherwise, not too shabby
I don't like seeing that line from Abreu at all. That's actually not good at all. His saving grace is the ability to strike people out.
The BABIP is stupidly high but it's been almost all singles. 9 singles and 2 doubles. His BAA is .268 but the xBAA is .206. That suggests some measure of bad luck. The 5 walks aren't great.
What really concerns me is he threw 182 pitches in July.
Hader only threw 116 and Pressly 92.
And in the world of small sample size stats, Hader gave up 4 hits and 3 HR.
Regardless of if the hits are singles, and him being a little unlucky, it's the totality of it. Hits plus walks. 4 walks per 9 isn't good, and if it weren't for his strikeouts, he'd be no better than Neris.
In glad he's able to generate strikeouts. The walks are fixable.
Also, I agree with you on the number of pitches. I think he'd be much more effective and walk people less if he got more rest.

Roll call: Who's going to MMP this evening?
The Toronto Blue Jays are trading reliever Nate Pearson to the Cubs, sources tell @JeffPassan and me.

Cubs trade LF Yohendrick Pinango in the deal, per sources. 22 years old and in AA. Would need to be added to the 40-man this winter by Toronto to protect from the Rule 5 draft. https://t.co/guqbgb9GI0

Garrett Crochet’s reported stance on his playoff usage shouldn’t deter teams from trading for him. Column: https://t.co/FDq79UeVhL

So we're looking at trading for rentals, which is fine, narrows who is available though
Not sure how Dana and Jim expect to also offload Montero unless they are giving up real value.

My name is Crane
Imma make it rain
We're back in first
And I have that thirst
For another champ
Makes the ladies damp
Adios Montero
Time to ditch the ho
We need an arm
Not much on the farm
Need a bat too
So what to do?
Go to my stash
Pull out some cash
Im ready to spend
So that we contend
For another ring
MMP needs more bling
And F Arlington
Just because

Go look up his stats vs LHP.

I also think the catch looked more difficult than probably should have been because he did not take a good angle to the ball.
