Yea the B-team defense didn't do Jack any favors either. If we need to bring Jack along in the bullpen/ spot start/ long man. I'm perfectly happy with that. He's got the juice, and it's starting to show.

It doesn't have to "go away" for it not to amount to anything significant for Ohtani. Unless there is a smoking gun that it was Ohtani betting, he won't be missing any time. And even if there is, unless it's betting on baseball the time won't be significant.

Ultimately it will come down to whether or not Ohtani is a gambler.

If he is not, this all goes away.

IF he is, we'll have this conversation again.

I'm guessing there will not be a smoking gun since he did a proper job of making sure he had a fall guy. That said, innocent or not, there's gonna be some suspicion and stink that sticks to him for a good while.

Let's talk rotation:

What we know
3/28 v Cubs - Eovaldo (Opening Day)
Bye
3/30 v Cubs -
3/30 v Cubs -
4/01 @ Tampa -
4/02 @ Tampa - Bradford
4/03 @ Tampa -
Bye
4/05 v Houston
4/06 v Houston
4/07 v Houston
4/08 v Houston
4/09 v A's
4/10 v A's
4/11 v A's
4/12 @ Houston
4/13 @ Houston
4/14 @ Houston

If you add Lorenzen after Bradford and let him pitch @ Tampa... you go 1-4 Eovaldi against Houston. Continue with Bradford and Lorenzen against the A's. Who knows, if you have Leiter, you go GS with him in G3 v A's, then start your rotation 1-3 @ Houston.

You go 5-2 against Houston and you are off to a heck of a start.

Talk I've heard is Lowe is a mid-April hopeful, so that is his time-frame. We'll have a better feel, once rotations are set.

I think a 12-4 start to the season is likely possible.

Eovaldi needs like 146 IP to vest his 2025 option, but I don't think he'd be that concerned starting the season with 6 SPs. Run twice through the 6. Then, move Bradford (assuming he is low-man) to the BP or trade.

Reminder: 2025 possible rotation: Eovaldi (v), deGrom, Dunning, Gray, Heaney, Mahle, Bradford, Leiter.

Guys I'm gonna take my dad to a Rangers game on Thursday Apr 11. First pitch is at 1:35. He refuses to sit in the sun. Let's assume the weather is nice enough to keep the roof open, what sections will give me the most shade?

Call up Mr. Gigem and get your dad into a Suite.

You are a Dr. An MD. And include me, plz.

On a serious note... I haven't really studied the sun vs the Stadium. I believe the sun path is along the 1B to H line, so anything on the 1B side would be blocked by the sun.

But, seriously, I'm not sure the sun is as important in the new stadium. LF might get some direct sun, but I think the stadium structure would still block most of the sun. I'll be in 136 and can let you know after Thurs.

Thanks! I went to the second game last year vs the Phillies, it was like a 3:05 first pitch and sat in right field. We got lots of sun...despite it being 72F he thought it was unbearable. I remember thinking third base line gets less sun

3rd base side/ home plate should get you in the shade

On RBiA (old ballpark) Home was NW and 3B was NE.

In this ballpark, home is SW and 1B is SE.

Hope that helps.

On the 100 level - for 1:05 first pitch, sun lit weats will run from 120 to around 137. I was in 228 a couple of years ago for Opening Day and it was very hot with the roof open.

I was in 128 and a lot of people, my boys and I included, took breaks from the seats and stood in the concourse. Everyone was getting cooked that day.

Mr Gigem, do you have any idea what the replica world series rings will look like? Will they just have each individual players names on them for those nights? Trying to decide which games to go to depending on the promotions.
Mr Gigem

I think they are supposed to look similar to the actual ring. And they will have that particular players name on it

Seen a couple videos of Lorenzen and seems like a likeable guy. Seems happy to be in Texas.

Found this article pretty revealing.

Here have been his baseball stops:
Cincy
LAAA
Detroit
Philly

Texas would seemingly be pretty calm compared to Cincy, Detroit, and Philly. Hope it works out.

I'm envious of those of you who'll be there opening day. Seeing a Ranger's opening day is a bucket list event for me, just have never been able to make it happen.

Just sayin'

You could buy tickets and go to the game

The 1,234 mile round trip to Globe Life Field makes season tickets not much of an option.
I'm lucky to get to one game or series a year. Geography.

Certainly an option, but involves traveling from Houston.

The tradition surrounding MLB opening day makes it one of the most unique, electric, and special events across any sport, IMO. I was there for opening day for both the 2010 and 2011 seasons and haven't been back since. On top of all the redemption that last season delivered, watching that banner revealed in person next Thursday will be another glorious full-circle moment!

This will be my 1st one.

Any combination of work, school, no money, traveling, kids... 1st time will be this year.

Part of getting Season Tickets was to make things like that a priority. Having said that, I am likely traveling most of mid-April through mid-May.

When I had Stars Season Tickets, I had tickets, but missed the All-Star Game in Dallas because I had to travel for work.

Back at the old ballpark we would go a few hours early to tailgate beforehand and get inside early to take in all the pregame festivities. This will be my first rodeo at GLF and, due to work, probably won't be able to head out there any earlier than 4pm. Just hoping to get in the house in time for the pregame ceremonies…

If you're interested in ever selling a couple games here or there, let me know! I'm planning on taking the family for a Sunday game and to the Zoo one weekend before school lets out, and I want to go to one other with a buddy or two of mine!

This year will be my first time. I'm lucky in that a friend's wife didn't want to go, so he offered me her ticket. We've got a big group and will be tailgating at around 2:00. I'm pretty stoked.

Opening day is such a magical experience… for years it was always "this could be the year," even in years I knew it was possible. I've missed three since 2011 (not counting 2020) and last year gave my two tickets to my two assistants. This year may feel different for me since they finally won it all.
