You still have to file it and go through proper channels.....BMX Bandit said:
See my edit,
Don't you not owe the tax until you have exceeded the lifetime gift limit?
Difficult or not....did they do it?BMX Bandit said:
"Proper channels" is filing a 709. Is that difficult?

Even if so....hard to claim it was theft if you're filing a 709. This isn't as straightforward as you're trying to make it out to be....BMX Bandit said:htxag09 said:Difficult or not....did they do it?BMX Bandit said:

When payments made? If last year, don't they have until April 15.
My two cents: it's stunning that Major League Baseball and Rob Manfred have a Department of Investigations and the league did not immediately announce DOI was being deployed to investigate *all of it.* Just a brutal look for the league's credibility on gambling and integrity. https://t.co/nqgrceC73K

Everyone likes sliders, right? The pitch, of course, but also those delicious little burgers? Well, I hope so. Today is the premiere of my new weekly column, Sliders, filled with timely and timeless appetizers for the baseball weekend. https://t.co/Muv9c629JW

Sure it does, at least help explain it with the rest of the context. There are rules around gifts. Most of those are around making it trackable for paying taxes. I'd wager none of those filings were completed seeing as their story is theft.BMX Bandit said:htxag09 said:Even if so....hard to claim it was theft if you're filing a 709. When did I say it was straightforward?
They've told multiple lies here. No one know what happened.
I asked hey it wasn't a gift. The "because taxes" response didn't make sense.
So the tax deal cuts both ways. There was someone on the other end of that $4.5MM wire. That person also has to account for that money to the IRS.BMX Bandit said:htxag09 said:Even if so....hard to claim it was theft if you're filing a 709. It was 100% an illegal bookie. Just google Matthew Boyer. The feds have already raided his home in California on multiple occasions to seize his books, large sums of cash, designer handbags, etc.Quote:
They labeled them "an illegal bookie". If in fact they are, the Feds are going to get involved and turn the screws on them hard. That's what Ohtani needs to worry about.
If it's an individual he's in trouble. He being both the book and Ohtani. If it's a corporation like DraftKings there will be records. My gut says it's a true old school book. Because DraftKings won't let you get $4.5MM in the hole.
You don't just get $4.5MM in the hole to a book. It takes time and some work and some massive bets. And that book isn't going to take the fall for Shohei. That's what Shohei better worry about that and every other person using that book.

I listed it on SeatGeek but figured I'd ask on here. I have an extra ticket for the Tuesday 4/2 game against the blue jays. Section 128, row 30 with a $15 loaded concessions value on it.
Bought it for $40 so just looking to get at least $30 back.
Pros: great seats, dollar hot dog night, loaded value on ticket
Cons: sit by me
Today’s Astros Spring Training game vs. the Nationals has been cancelled due to rain. Framber Valdez threw five innings on the backfields. He was scheduled to start tonight’s game.

And it doesn't stop at Shohei, some are alleging he worked with Yasiel Puig, Maverick Carter (Lebrons James Manager), and others

Read the article. No way he is turning down the minor league reassignment for the amount of money on the line (he loses remaining contract money if he elects FA due to lack of service time).
"What level of embarrassment will each league accept in order to take that money?"@Ken_Rosenthal notes that "everyone seems to partner with gambling companies" and situations like the Ohtani scandal are "not exactly a shock"

James Click traded Straw for six years of Yainer Diaz and two and a half seasons of Phil Maton, who posted a 111 ERA+ in the regular season and allowed one earned run in 18.1 playoff innings as an Astro. https://t.co/3qJ5T3nI13
