I have a feeling this is coming down to structure. Snell is going to want an opt out after year 1, but I think Crane is going to want 2-3 years. How does 3/90 with an opt out after year 2 plus a vesting (or team) option for an additional year at 25 M. Hell maybe even a second option year after.

If things go right for Snell he's 2/60 M and he hits the market again. If things go less well he opts in & it's 3/90. It everything maxes out it's 5/140.

The downside is the QO & tax on him. I think his signing would be a potential admission the window is closing.

Might need to go higher dollar but agree on structure. Only getting one year while giving up picks and paying a tax is tough to swallow.

With signing Snell, it would hurt to lose draft picks with the state of our farm system. But wasn't that what Dana was hired for? His strength with the farm system? I think Dana will be able to fix things.

If we get Snell, next year we likely will not sign Breggy or JV, if he is under the innings plateau. We will also undergo a slight rebuild to integrate more of the younger players like Loperfido, Wagner and Melton.

Yes but you are hamstringing him without draft picks (and loss of money in international free agency). It's silly to think just because he's a good evaluator you can give him 2 picks in the first 6 rounds and think he can compete with other GMs who have 6+ picks.
