Mrs. Marvin- No, but we brought our trophy from 2022. You remember that World Series, right?

I don't think it's out of line to say that with his age you have to manage JV pretty closely from a workload perspective. He's still going to be an innings-eater and potential to be dominant but not like he was 5 years ago. Which makes the fact the Mets are paying the bulk of his salary a good thing.

I agree with this. The metrics show him declining. We need him to comfortably reach his vesting option and have him fresh enough for the postseason.

Note-he was dominant enough to win a Cy just 2 seasons ago. He's built different.

Look at this BS from this day in Astros history:

1969 - After Donn Clendenon "retires" and refuses to report to spring training, Commissioner Bowie Kuhn rules that Montreal can keep both Rusty Staub and Clendenon, insisting that Houston will have to settle for further compensation rather than voiding the trade.

I did some research - the Astros traded for Clenendon and one of the Alous for Staub, a godawful deal. Clennedon had been taken by the Expos from Pittsbugh in the expansion draft but didn't want to play for the Astros so he fake retired and Bowie Kuhn said that's fine.

The Astros instead got cash and Jack Billingham, who was 29-32 in 3 years before we traded him to Cincy in the Joe Morgan debacle and Skip Guinn who pitched in 35 games over 2 years for the team and then left baseball.

Clennedon played 38 games for the Expos, then got traded to the Mets, and was the ******* World Series MVP after not evn plying in the NLCS. He hit.357 with 3 homers in the Mets' win over the Orioles.

Random rookie with 120 ABs last year gets busted for a veterinary steroid used on horses.

MLB is sending a message to veterans everwhere that they need to taper off their offseason regimen.

Not Astros related (could be one day you never know), but whoever drafts Braden Montgomery is getting a star. He's a big leaguer playing in college at this point

Yeah, projections are top 15 pick.

Maybe we can swindle a team into trading him away like we did with Yordan or sign him when the A's/Rays don't extend him

Yeah you manage him like we did Roger Clemens.

I don't really care if he doesn't pitch half the season as long as he's good for October

Disch Falk on Tuesday was a good baseball fix for me. Especially given I sat next to an obnoxious Longhorn fan with a Rangers cap. He shut up quick after the Montgomery HR

That's what they told us. Monday will probably be fine. Our problem is they have no flight to get us there in time to catch our cruise tomorrow.
