I want to see what they pay him. He's not going to pitch for at least a year and is another arm issue away from likely never pitching again. He's good as a DH but he's not as good as Yordan. Would you pay $500/10 for Yordan?
Probably already discussed here, but I just saw the news that Whitley is being moved to a middle-relief role. Man, I hope this kid at least becomes serviceable in a role like that (though I have my doubts). I'm sure it has been a long, frustrating ride for him personally over the last number of years. Would love for him to taste even a bit of Major League success, even if it is in a simple middle relief role.

Altuve will be extended… also Abreu will have an ops north of .800 next year so he will be a none issue.

I'd be okay losing Bregman if that money goes to Tucker.
But if Crane lets them both walk, he'd be trending in the direction of the A's and Rays with the "once they finish their cheap deal we cut them loose"

iI is who we are as a club. We arent NYY, LAD, NYM or even The Rangers handing out massive end of life contracts to players. So we let guys walk and hope it works out. The playing field isnt level. Never has been. Frankly we have been lucky to have the 7 year run we have had. They normally arent that long.

The rays don't seem to let their big fish get to free agency. They trade them as soon as they get expensive in arbitration

Seems like GM speak (pumping up Meyers value) but I can see the team rolling with a McCormick-Meyers-Tucker OF with Yordan at DH the majority of the time.

Between Chas, Tucker, Alvarez, & Meyers we have 4 guys covering 4 positions. Jake is the best defensive CFer. When Yainer or Jose Abreu needs the DH spot, Meyers goes and sit. When Doobie needs an occasional day in the OF, Meyers sits.

Singleton was mentioned as depth at 1b. Kinda like Yanier was depth at 1b last year.
